General / Off-Topic Sulky Forum Quit Post (But Hopefully Not TOO Sulky)

I think people need to share why they're leaving as they've invested much time contributing, reading and making friends and they want their leaving to count for something. Personally I've not been reading many posts for the last few weeks since the whole offline mode thing kicked off, couldn't get a word in edgeways from the spamming of un-related threads by the vocal minority.

Been there, seen that. Sad that you leave but IMHO it's better to distance yourself from such trivial matters. And suddenly it feels much easier and right.

I have general question, why do people feel the need to announce that they're leaving a forum?

I think its like suicide attempts for show, merely a cry for help and attention.

I would like to announce I am staying on the forums and that I am happy with my life...

Not too sulky and you shouldn't leave. Fight the good fight to get it back on track! The only thing evil needs to succeed is for good people to do nothing.

If you're going to leave just do it, don't post it here. I'm certainly not going to try to convince anyone to stay. Announcement threads about leaving are totally pointless because no one is a celebrity here and I doubt many people are too concerned about the departure.

The forum will inevitably become more toxic the closer to launch we get, and will get truly bad come release. I've said it before - it's a statistical inevitability. I think it would be in Frontier's best interest to do a couple of things to prevent forum attrition - which have also been suggested before:

- Create a sub-forum for new players. Perhaps even limit new players' ability to post to just this forum, for some period of time
- Create a sub-forum for alpha/premium beta players - I would not include regular beta simply because most of the truly negative folks joined later in standard beta. Could perhaps even segregate by forum join date

These may not be perfect solutions - am sure they could be refined quite a bit - but if nothing structural changes in the run-up to release and beyond, I fear it will continue to get worse and more 'vets' will quit. That of course helps amplify the negativity as there's now even less positivity to go around. This WAS the most positive, helpful, mature and constructive gaming forum I've ever stumbled across when I joined in early PB, but it's rapidly going the way of every other gaming forum, unfortunately. Which is a real shame!

Why would you make a thread announcing this? What is the point?

Who cares if you leave these forums? Why would anyone? Who are you from Adam?

Would you make a forum thread announcing that you've started eating a different kind of bread?

Get over yourself. Seriously. Become part of the solution and not part of the problem before you start proselytizing, OK?

This is exactly what she's trying to get away from. A post like this would not have appeared on the forum 4 months ago.
