Summary execution for a Cr400 bounty!

The first time it happened I thought it was the station-killing-ship bug. I entered a station with a 400 Cr wanted bounty after accidentally shooting up a SA ship (THAT HAS TO CHANGE!!). I forgot to pay it off before leaving and as a thankyou was vapourised by the station on the way out. Same happened again - 400 Cr fine for shooting SA but this time the station greased me as I approached for docking. No warning. I've played since premium beta and have been in this situation many times with no adverse consequences, but not since release. Is this a new gameplay feature or a bug? Either way it ruins the immersion for me, I lost Cr700K plus 200K unclaimed bounties! No-one gets summarily executed by the law for a minor infraction....well not in the UK anyway :D

It's always been that way. Any bounty, by the way, is seen as a major infraction - fines are minor, bounties are major.

You get killed if any system authority scans you on the way to the station.

Congratulations you are the 1000th customer to make this thread. In honor of this achievement you have been awarded.....

With a future release the Dev's seem to be adding another QOL improvement. There will be a threshold for accidental, and incidental damage caused to the SA, before you get a bounty, for hitting the SA ships while fighting. In the meantime, you have to do what the rest of us do. First off, avoid hitting the SA by controlling you're fire. Failing that, and I do mean failing, after accidentally hitting an SA, head to the nearest Outpost, not Station to pay off your bounty and fine.
.
On a side note, any Fines you accrue will ramp up to a Bounty if you don;t pay them off within twenty four hours.
.
So in the meantime, watch your six, and the SA, and fly safe out there.

If you ch3ck on the system map when you have an accidental bounty. Click on the stations and you will see in which you are wanted.

My favorite quote from the game is "Loitering is a crime punishable by death", It's needed for gameplay reasons but it makes me laugh every time. I just imagine a guy standing in the hallway waiting for someone and he explodes, just like that LOL. and all around the station you can hear boom noise and splatering.

Have to say, I think they could bring back the original Legal standings. Clean, Offender, Fugitive.
.
Clean - Trusted.
Offender - Special attention from security forces.
Fugitive - Kill on sight.

This^^

Though the accidental damage "rules" do need looking at.

In an ideal world - yes. If i forget to submit my tax return on time I get a bit of a fine, a rap on the knuckles.....but I don't get a death squad at my front door at 4 am in the morning!

They are adding an 'accidental damage' system that will prevent you from becoming wanted from a stray shot.

But even when it's added, I wouldn't rely on it. The best option will still be not to shoot the police. :)

You mean you didn't get the 'Wanted' warning indicator in the lower-right of the HUD? If so, that's a bug and you should send a ticket.

If you did have the 'Wanted' warning on the HUD, that was your warning.

In the view of the ED legal system, you were guilty of attempted murder of a police officer, which is hardly a minor infraction in any legal system.

In the ED universe (as some station announcements will remind you), loitering is a crime punishable by death. This is not a universe with a high tolerance for crime. :)

You probably do in the Federation. :D

You're lucky to live in a 'real world' where there aren't death squads. Not everyone is so lucky.

It's incredibly stupid, a massive design oversight....

like so many other things....

A bounty is a bounty, and every credit is good for the wallet.

Oversight is all you guys not seeing the bounty.

Perhaps you should learn to pay attention to what you do and what you have?

Not doing your taxes isn't quite the same as shooting at a cop car.
