Summer 2022 DLC

Why? Thats easy question. It depends how profitable according to them sequel would be.
If Frontier will decide that PZ2 with birds and aquariums will make a lot of money then they will stop support to leave some animals (dlc) for sequel. In meantime Planet Zoo still would be making money like PlanCo currently does.

Atleast there is some hope for birds for me in current game, because current dlc system works in harmful way for sequel dlc content. Unless next 3 pack would feature less requested and kinda niche animals. Think about more animals like caiman and water buffalo.
Somehow the addition of less requested animals in the packs makes me even more positive for 2023 because you can spread the highlights over more packs. But of course, if Frontier says, development of PZ2 could be more proftibale than support will stop. But I would say there is perhaps a chance that release of a sequel will be in 2025 or later. And with the Profit of a new game compared to DLC it depends how the DLCs are sold. With the current model:
PZ (complete new game, new mechanics, some new animals, new scenery) : 50 Euro
1 year of DLCs: (22 Habitat animals + 4 exhibiti animals, 300 pieces of scenery): 40 Euro.

As long as enough people buy the packs it seems more profitable to me.

I was initially sure the summer dlc would be oceania animal pack but then we got wetlands animal pack and that changes the situation a bit because I think frontier now will start making more biomes pack which for example will include at least one bird or aquatic animal so I on the other hand have a chance to have oceania dlc but There is a chance of something like grassland or desert dlc the only thing that might make me think we will get oceania because there are lots of very popular animals that have not yet come to the game for example Tasmanian devil and I do not know where to include it if not in oceania but there is also a greater chance it will be grassland or desert So you can get very requests animals like african crested porcupine or wombat so there are lots of options for summer dlc and I don't it will be the next dlc. I definitely think that in the future at least another 3 dlc is waiting for us so I definitely do not think it's the end hope it's true. 🐾

We are at crossroads, my friends.
Gone are the days of obvious regions to fill (North America, Europe, etc) and we have no datamines to go off of (capybara) - I think it's time to let the Lord Howe Stick insect to go and write it off as an unused concept animal.
Many believe the Wetlands DLC indicates we are destined to receive biome based packs for the rest of the year, and yet I say look at the Aquatic pack. Immediately following was the Southeast Asia pack, a return to region based DLCs.
And so, I stand here, championing as I always do for an Aviary pack.
I can not and will not give up hope on flying birds. I can't. I won't.
But in the spirit of guessing, I'll throw out other options:

A Scenery Pack - follows the pre-established pattern, although I'm a bit perplexed on what architecture style the game can implement that doesn't already exist. What else could they do? Currently we have:
  • African
  • Aquatic (New England coastal)
  • Arctic (Scandinavian)
  • Australian
  • East Asian
  • Europe (Vernacular)
  • Indian
  • North African
  • South American
I'm a bit pressed to think of any remaining architectural theme that could fill an entire pack, which is why I lean towards the rest of the year being animal packs. I know builders may be frustrated by this, but this is indeed a zoo game and I've seen folks build colosseums, fully functioning cities, and Hogwarts castle - I think we have enough pieces lol

An Animal Pack - As I mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised we are looking at animal packs for the rest of 2022. Contenders include:

Biome Based
  • Tropical
  • Desert
  • Grassland
  • Coastal
Region Based
  • Oceanic
  • Greater Asia
  • Central America
Featured Based
  • Aviary (fully flighted birds)
  • Aquarium (fully aquatic animals)
  • Exhibit (Implements new larger exhibits for larger reptiles - pythons, green anacondas, river turtles, larger lizards etc)
  • Arboreal (implements brachiation for animals like gibbons and sloths)
  • Petting Zoo (new feature to allow guests to feed animals - barnyard animal pack)
But hey, who knows. It could be a "Mustelid Mania: A Weasel Wishlist" Pack.
