super cruise time sink

Would it ever be possible to get some sort of gravity boost to sling shot you through the system or mini jump from say one planet to another maybe with some material cost or something to offset the time in super cruise? maybe put in a gateway you can pay to use from a to b or wormhole with a toll..??

right now i go brush my teeth, brew some coffee, take a nap, or do some shopping and return to arrive at my destination.. i really wish we could come up with a viable solution that fits the situation, because to me this is the biggest detractor in this game, love the game but come on in the real universe gravity is used to increase acceleration.. why not in make believe universes..??
 
My guess is the only reason you're going to that destination is because it pays so well to go there. If you make it easier, it will pay less. You can go to closer stations in most systems. You choose the long travel, you travel long time. Unfortunately time sink is one of the primary grind factors in this game. It's the difficulty level that most people hope to avoid.

I'd always hoped that FD would at some point add a large slot optional "dirty" intra-system jump drive, that would take you instantly to a planet, but have a high cost in terms of fuel and damage to your ship.

Engineering could mitigate against the cost, perhaps, but I feel such tech should always be for rare occasions, and not business-as-usual. Still, I'd like it to be possible.

oh yeah your right about the distance thing and dynamic / like most folks my game time is limited.. just hoping for a way, even if it has a cost to cut out some of the lack of action.. i get the grind part been doing that ok but sure would be a nice option don't ya think? an express lane to shoot you 300ls down the space highway get you closer.
 
Honestly I wouldn't be against being able to lock onto other stars and intra-system FSD jump between them.

But there still has to be some limitations to that. I'd be against jumping between planets and stations.

Mainly because there still needs to be some interaction with Supercruse. That's where you're most likely to see other players besides at space stations. It's where you're most likely going to find Signal Sources and mission targets. Interdictions still need to have their place. (Though I'm questioning why it's still a thing when Interdicting someone is near impossible now when it used to just be a challenge.)

The FSD slows down in supercruise as you near large/massive objects like planets and stars. You can help make your own "express" route of sorts by avoiding/going around such bodies, and even by dropping below the orbital planes a bit on your way to where you're going.
 
yeah u know there could be a way where you could use it like a boost but it would take a material cost therfore maintaining the grind mechanics ED community has come to love and expect..
