I was wondering (as you do) while looking for binary or tertiary companion stars while mapping a system if say you have a nearby system say 3-5 light years, can you super cruise to the next system?
Given that I have been upto 1500+ C in SC I figure that it would take a slither under 6 hours to transit 1 light year.
Would the game allow me to say set off and let the SC speed max out - would I have enough fuel on-board to complete the passage using SC as opposed to HS - I guess turning lot's of kit off may lessen the fuel consumption.
On completing the distance would the system software detect that I was in the new system and allow me to approach and drop in - or would I be just really far out in DEEP space and not at the new system?
Would the game mechanics allow this transition? (not discounting FD doing any server reboots etc)
Has anyone been mad enough to try this out?????
Then another thing struck me if this is do-able then are there any interstellar bodies or other items out there - like say a Generation ship that is still ploughing it's way at sub light speeds accross the chasm of empty space, or rouge planets or other system bodies that broke free of the stars hold and went drifting of or was pulled free by a neighbouring systems gravity or components blasted out into space after a super nova?
