Super Cruise

I have been at it on the XBox One for several weeks now. What I do not understand, and it is quite possible I am doing something wrong- or it could be done better, when I leap out of hyperspace, but then still have many several minutes of supercruise traveling to do. Why is that? I am fixed either on the point or via a route, yet still find myself watching the clock as I supercruise to my final destination. Why is hyperspace dropping me off so far from my destination? This is when I ofttime have the ultimate sad conclusion of blowing past my destination as I can't decelerate fast enough when I see "Slow Down".

I do get some admin done, researching my screens and loadouts, and watching the pretty colors go by (my daughter loves when we see other players). But it does slow down the action considerably as we tick off the game days and then game hours to the destination.

And then when hyperspace is unemployable (I guess because the distance is considered too close?) and I end up supercrusiing for literally 15 to 20 minutes of real time. My wife was making horrible comments about this "game" and how dull it appeared to be. Is that me doing something wrong? Or just a fact in this simulation?

You need to wait for the "Safe Disengage" signal (where the "slow down" appears)

Use "auto-throttle" which is when the throttle position turns blue (from yellow)

Then you'll end up less than 10 clicks from target

Also, you're jump in point to a system is always the same, no matter if you've pre-targeted a station... some stations are ages from the jump in and do take an age to get to

I think he is talking about hyperspace jump. You can only hyper jump to the main star of a system. Then you have to supercruise to your destination. If you check the system map it will tell you how many light seconds a station is from the main star or jump in point. Around 2000ls will not take long. Ones that are hundreds of thousands of ls away can take a long time.
Remember gravity effects your ability to accelerate. So when you are near an object with large mass it will effect your ability to accelerate. The pyhsics in this game is awesome.
This might help

When you first jump in to a system, you always arrive next to the systems star. It's just how hyperspace works. When supercruising to your destination, say the station, at first do as you are doing and accelerate to full speed. But when you are getting close, say about 10 seconds out, deceleration so your throttle indicator sits in the blue zone at the edge of the throttle indicator. The throttle needle should turn blue also to match. The blue zone is the optimal zone for your ships systems to handle deceleration. You will find your ship will automatically slow down by itself as you get closer until you are slow enough to get the message 'safe to disengage'. You are now slow enough to drop to normal space easily, but wait a little longer. When you are about 100-50k drop out of supecruise and you should be pretty close to the station.
As you get more practise in super cruise you can wait until about 7 seconds out before getting the throttle into the blue zone, but if you aren't quick enough you will find you will start to accelerate out of control again. If this happens don't panic, just get the throttle in to the blue zone, turn away from you destination and you will slow down. Then continue as normal heading back towards your destination.

But you will always arrive near the star when jumping into a system. It's in super cruise that you can get interdicted, or you get the chance to interdict someone else. You would lose a chunk of the gameplay if you could hyperspace into a system right next to a station or even just cose to one.

Generally in systems that are inhabited, stations are mostly within 5 minutes of super cruise from the star you arrive at. But, yeah, if you are going to different planets in a system exploring, it can take a little time and patience to get there. But like I say, I do cargo runs and bounty hunting at RES sites in various systems with ringed planets and it is rare that I have to supercruise for more than five minutes. Mostly I get to where I want to go in less than that.

Thank you! This all makes sense to me. I finally figured out the blue zone for speed during SC and that was a timesaver. Thank you again!
