Super Heated Gas Giant ( Whiteout ! )

Some months ago I came across a Gas Giant whose atmosphere is being super heated by a close O' star and took some pictures (below).
Today while returning to Jacques from the Core I found myself in the same area and decided to take some video.

As you approach the planet it starts to flicker, even closer and it results in an almost total whiteout. I've never seen anything like this occur in over ten thousand surveyed systems.
Could it be my graphics card playing tricks or is this strange Gas Giant really glowing brighter than a star ?

If you're planning a trip this way then perhaps stop by to see if your ship is also affected by this strange phenomenon. Post your pictures!

That's... A surprisingly cool graphical bug you have found there! It hurt my eyes a bit though. I want to see more investigation of this!

I ran into a similar system a year or so ago, which was super-close to a neutron star. Scared the crap out of me when I jumped to the system, since it went whizzing by my canopy:

I'm curious how it looks now with the changes to neutron stars, since it would likely be well within range of the jet...

Thread necro, because I stopped by this bizarre system enroute from the Core to Colonia.

Here are my pics. First, the glowing giant itself with the two suns in the background. Note: the suns are to the left and right and are behind the planet (the central white circle), from this perspective. So this is looking at the night side.

The system map, with the white planet selected. Needless to say, it's a Class V.

Here's me and my ship, cartoonified by the bright light.

Spotted another weird lighting effect going on in this system. I flew up to planet AB 1, which PPP didn't tag, so I could plant my flag in this system. But coming up to it, I noticed this planet seems to be being lit by two light sources: the two suns (seen above-right of the planet) are the dimmer of the two. The brighter source is not the white planet; at this range, the white planet is a barely visible speck in very close orbit around the purple sun and any light coming from it should be coming from much the same direction as the purple sun, not 90 degrees to the purple sun. I tried to find something in-system that the brighter light might be coming from, but couldn't. The remote M-class planetary star was almost, but not quite, in the correct line. I did notice that the brightly lit hemisphere was facing the direction the planet was moving in its orbit - almost as if the planet is picking up radioactive-white dust and sweeping it up onto one face. I should also point out that this planet is even hotter than the White Giant (it's over 10,000 K, so it "should" also be glowing white), but it nevertheless has a clearly visible "night side".

Nice find!
Not sure if these lighting effects are programmed intentionally or whether its just a bug. We can at least pretend that these effects are due partly to atmospheric makeups, densities and positions relative to their stars. Maybe your planet like the Gas Giant has a halogen component consisting of five chemically related elements: fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), iodine (I), and astatine (At)...we can dream.

OP, wow! That is seriously trippy. I like the choice of music as well; it really fits the mood. Rep++
