Super Sampling question

I am slowly getting up to speed on configuring the DK2 and one thing i am still unsure of is supersampling

  1. i have created a custom resolution within the nvidia control panel 2103x1183x75hz
  2. I have change the resolution in ED to this mode

Do i have to further enable supersampling in ED or does the oculus do that automagically?
Do i have to configure the custom resolution and supersampling (1.2) in ED config files?
Do i need to add 1.2 as a supersampling option in ED and select it

im bascially wondering if simply adding the custom res in windows and then selecting it in ED produces the desired super-sampled effect.

You don't have to do anything else. Using a custom res does basically the same thing as the supersampling option in ED. I think the option in ED also does some filtering making it a bit slower but potentially a sharper.

while you can set a custom resolution in NVCP, it is not a true supersample when playing ED. to get the actual 1.5x and higher you need to set the rift to 1920x1080 in NVCP and use the in-game supersample option. you will notice quite a difference.

The NVIDIA DSR work with oculus, you can use it, but I don't like it. The filter applied it's not so clear like the in-game supersampling.
The problem with the in-game supersampling is the available ratios: 1.5, 2.0,..
I want 0.1 steps: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4,... because 1.0 is ok for me but 1.5 is too match (only in stations).
I would love to have a dynamic supersampling:
- dynamic scaling from minRatio to maxRatio to target the VSync or a specific FPS(if vsycn off).

It's will be great with the oculus.

what he said^

spot on, ED should have its on dynamic version eventually.
For now though they should absolutely implement smaller increments.

my 980 with a pretty good OC cant handle 2x ingame SS, but can do 1.78 and 2x DSR NP. (although the recent update killed my ability to run 2x dsr nvcp without crashing driver)

can be a 10min job or if the downsampling filter support only 0.5 steps can be difficult.
DSR it's terrible! the image becomes too flat. you lost all the sharpness and in the Oculus Rift it's very noticeable.
