I've only used it a couple of times out of curiosity, but from what I remember (vaguely) you have to select a target that is in-system through the Navigation Panel before engaging.
So if you've come from another system and chosen your final destination (via a bookmark or from the galaxy map) then it drops you by the system star and it knows that you're headed somewhere in system but doesn't offer Supercruise unless you reselect the destination from the Nav Panel.

I might be hopelessly wrong - it's all a bit vague.

In the same star system sometimes I get offered supercruise assist to a station and other times not even though it is the same station. It is the assist I am after and I always check the navigation panel to see if it is available.

Have you selected a target first? Made sure the SCA is powered up? Fitted to the current ship? Do you have a screenshot showing non-availability? That may help us answer.

As an aside, SCA complains when the target is behind another object so you need to manually override.

Except that even though I have well close to 3k hrs on the game (3 profiles/2 systems) and used SCA hundreds of hrs, it's now gone. Got sick and tired of ppl on reddit and even Frontier's forum saying the same thing: Do you have the module? Is it powered up? Were you already in supercruise before selecting or re-selecting the target and then clicking over once to the SCA option? Yes, Yes, and (on my knees crying) ... YES. It just is NOT there ... AT ALL. This is what my left panel looks like: Lock Destination // Lock and Engage Hyperspace // Galaxy Map // Bookmark this Location. Unless I'm mistaken, I must have missed a patch or something because my left nav panel looks like the 'og' panel. Something is not right. In fact, on my PC .. no issues. On my Xbox, used it like I said for hundreds of hrs so am very familiar with it, but it just isn't there and from what I can tell, no one else is having the issue. Just me I guess.

Can you post a screenshot of your left panel with a destination selected and also one of your right panel showing your modules?
