Supercruise needs more love

Hey commanders.

I apologise if this has been brought up before but I really feel supercruise is something that needs to be updated because it hasn't changed at all. Wouldn't it be nice if we could use engineers to improve our supercruise drives so we could do interplanetary travel with faster acceleration and deceleration. It would also be great if we could get more music variety since listening to the same track in those long supercruise trips can get a bit repetitive over time. Supercruise is very well made in this game but it shouldn't be neglected in terms of further development. How would you guys think supercruise could be expanded further?

I have seen a few posts about how to make Super Cruise more engaging (beyond USS's). The ability to have limited communication with passengers could be nice. You might be able to try and remove ID tags from stolen cargo-at the risk of damaging said cargo. A "ship diagnostics" mini game that will potrntially allow you to get small boosts to various modules and/or achieve very small repairs to said modules. Also, having scanned ships occasionally give you missions to perform, if you want to take them.

Some rough ideas I came up with:
1. A separate module (like MJD (Micro Jump Drive) in eve) that uses materials to jump
2. As a fsd variant that will allow us to "fast travel" to some location sacrificing super cruise being less heat efficient or more fuel/time consuming because it ment to MJD to planets/stars/stations
3.0 Making a fixed range gap in which you can use MJD (could be engineered to make this gap bigger with slightly slower boot time or faster boot time but smaller range gap). So for example a station is at distance of 30000ls and your micro jump drive bass gap of 7000->20000ls (roughly). In order to activate MJD you have fly closer in order to be in that range between 7k to 20kls otherwise you'll get message "MJD Failed. Out of range".
3.1 Being able to set the range gap manually but boot time may vary (higher range, more boot time).

Thoughts?

See, I don't mind the journey per se, but I would like little things to take up my time whilst in flight.

These are all really good ideas. Supercruise had the potential to be a lot of fun! Imagine upgrading your supercruise drive and zooming past all those planets! Microjump drives is an excellent idea too. Those are indeed popular in eve online. Something does need to be done because much if not most of your time in elite dangerous is staring at that orange counter going down when in supercruise
