Supergiants are awesome!

I visited Antares for the first time today, and was surprised that the frameshift drive dropped me next to Antares B rather than Antares A like I was expecting.
Then I noticed Antares A.... 190000 LS away and quite a lot larger looking than any of the nearer stellar bodies. Freaking cool I thought to myself.... little did I know.

So I scanned all the other stellar bodies in the area and then selected Antares A..... and it started scanning straight away (at about 185000LS) and finished REALLY fast.
That just blew me away.

So I headed off for my close encounter with a giant. And it was pretty epic. My favourite bit was fuel scooping of it.... over 1000ls from the star, travelling at more than 30 C in supercruise.

This encounter just made my whole day. I'm still smiling.

When I was neutron farming I made sure I kept Carbon stars selected, not as huge but by 'eck something to see when you jump into the system and a normal star is a close companion. You really do get a sense of scale when this happens... I posted a picture of a Carbon Star solar flare that was the size of our Sun.

Yup, agree, big stars are awesome.

I also love the carbon stars when you get a cheeky sol sized M type in close orbit. Up the excitement level when you jump into a system knowing you will need to scoop from said cheeky M type. That was exciting.
