Support distance and track length seperate things

It would be great to have the support distance and the track length seperate things. For example I only want to add a small section of drive tires but I dont need supports for it because you use supports on the normal track that comes before or after the drive tires.

This way you can add more detail to your coaster tracks without having way too much supports which makes it look messy and unrealistic.

Like this for example

If you want realistic block brakes and drive tires in front of the station you get way too much supports.

So there needs to be something so we can add small pieces of track without getting this many supports.

Also for the lift hill I prefer to have the turns itself a bit steeper but this will also give you way too many supports.

Bonus: Drive tires and friction brakes in one

I think the supports should be customizable in general! Otherwise you get some ridiculous supports in some parts and in other parts your coasters seem to be floating because there's so much scenery on the ground that the supports are all gone.

Yes exactly. It doesn't have to be as complicated as No Limits 2 (most people will find that too complicated anyway) but some easy way to make your supports more realistic.

Like you said sometimes you have way too much unneeded supports and other times the coaster seems to be floating in the air

I think a seperate slider for the length of the track and the intensity of the supports would be the fastest and easiest way to do it

How about the ability to just delete or add supports wher you want?

That might be a better solution as i don't like to put all supports on the track myself [tongue]

Just let the game do it as it does right now. But indeed have an option to delete a certain support or add a costumized one.

Yeah I would like the following to be implemented really;

  1. First It auto generates all the supports how it does now so that you have a base coaster to work with
  2. Then you would be able to select the track piece you want to adjust, once highlighted the track would show different node positions to toggle supports on and off along that local length.
  3. Then you can adjust that support further by selecting the support footing node and drag it about to your desired location as well as raise and lower the node.
  4. After that there is a 3rd node (1st being the track node, 2nd being the footing node) which is located centrally along the length of the support. This node allows you to add a knee joint anywhere along it's length so that you can make the support shape that you require, be it to avoid scenery or to just make it aesthetically pleasing. This node can be positioned anywhere along the length of the support and then dragged in 360 degree plain to allow maximum adjustment. At this node location the support will choose to either show a welded or bolted connection depending on the support style and angle accordingly.

This way it is easy to use but would allow a lot of freedom at the same time.

There should be a small library of support styles that can be substituted such as these:

Loop Support:

Box- Style:

And here is a concept that I made so that tracks can be supported along side of cliff faces or buildings (just substitute building where it says cliff):

Yep I assumed that each coaster type would have the corresponding support style as default though? And we would just be adjusting them. Of course if a track has different types for different connection requirements then it would be good if we can select from the menu as said to get it to work.

That would still allow for the node system to keep it simple and then maybe not need a central node which would be the hardest part anyways.

Just select type and then top and bottom node(s) as needed.

Sorry for the double post, but I just found this video that at about 7:11 & on the right side you can see the cliff supports I was trying to describe above:

Here is a screen capture, look close at the circled area:

well i do hope the devs will give us some info about how we are gonna be able to achieve realistic supports :)

it shouldnt be that difficult to add a seperate slider in the game and it would make building coasters with realistic supports so much easier

Hopefully they are working to add some customisation to supports. I'm sure they've clocked that things can look messy and unrealistic when you use lots of short track pieces.

At the end of the day, it's not a dedicated coaster editor like No Limits 2, they have to balance detail/customisation and ease of use for the average player.

It's already miles better than RCT3 at least!

I agree with this as sometimes you need to play about with the track to move supports. Being able to place supports where you want would be nice.

Prime example in the image below! (How very annoying!)
