I use LCDSysInfo and GOverlay to monitor my system while gaming. By default it displays system usage and performance but you can also assign / code in-game plug-ins showing in-game settings.

Heres an example from Euro truck simulator:

Would anyone be interested in this for E:D, assuming frontier could make the required info available for plug-ins to use?

I'm all for Frontier offering an interface to in game stats or even radar contacts, but I'd rather have them displayed on a life webpage on a second monitor or mobile web browser (smartphone / tablet).

Nice looking device (a slightly more extensible version of the LCD on my G19) - just ordered one :)

The LCD screen isn't really any different from a tablet or secondary monitor, I just like to use my secondary display for gaming. I would imagine an app could be written to use the the data and display on a tablet in much the same way. My question was more in relation to data availability rather than a specific delivery method.

Some potential E: D uses might be:

If you are miner, then maybe a reading for your cargo capacity usage, along with remain fuel supply.

A trader may want local commodity prices and potential profit margins based on current cargo.

I like the fact I can just display the data I want. Hope you like it.
