Surface Map lighting..?

Hello follow CMDRs,
I only recently noticed that the surface map actually shows detail today.

God knows when they added that, but I never noticed. Lol

While out looking for the next ruins site, I was trying to navigate to an interesting geological feature on the planet.
According to the map, it was in the northern hemisphere, on the dark side of the planet.

But after some confusion, it realised that it was actually on the light side of the planet.

Question:
Is the system map lighting inaccurate?

Just so I know not to follow it next time. Lol

I don't think so.
Planets that aren't tidally locked also seem to rotate at high speeds. Opening the Planetary Map will hence show different planet rotation state every time.

Basically the Planetary Map currently is more of symbolic nature when it comes to lighting.

I take it the current implementation is merely the foundation for later fine-tuning and additions.
Tons of stuff that would be useful to have there...
