So, what if you don't have to write 12 miles of code to implement Surface Mining:
- Random spawns already exist on planets for looting ---> Add spawn type "Material Deposit"
How do you like the idea, given that it minimises the developer work since most of the stuff needed is already implemented in the game and it will give you the feature a lot of people want? AND it's time-economical since you don't have to actually sit on the planet for 4 hours.
Any creative suggestions to develop the idea further from more experienced players?

- Add external module that player can place on Hotspot Spawn found on planet.
- Modules come in different sizes / efficiency.
- Defensive mechanisms for spawns on surfaces are already coded in the game ---> Have cheaper unprotected and more expensive modules with automated protection.
- Player finds deposit hotspot, places the module and leaves. Module produces x/day of given material, leaves them in the module internal deposit.
- Stealing other people's deposit is enabled, and you'd have to Data Link Scan the surface mining module, kill off the automated defensive perimeter, use hull breaker limpets (that are already in game, all of it) to scavenge the deposit.
