Surface mission and RANKING

Surface mission :

- does NOT make you progress with Empire rank
- does NOT make you progress with Federation rank

Even if they are taken from a space station, even if they are taken with the little logo that says that the faction has pledged allegiance to Empire/federation

Just why ?

Any missions taken from space station to space station DO make you rank up with Empire / Federation, but NOT planetary ones, even if they are the SAME.

Just... WHY?

That's not good to hear and most definitely should be a bug.

I was just about to start going back onto the federation ranks too, thanks for the heads up

Unfortunately, OP has totally wrong. That is the BEST solution to rank quickly (space station -> surface) by taking cargo/data.
Just take your trading ship and do it.

OP doesn t know what he is talking about obviously.

I think he is right: every deliver cargo I have brought to the surface didn't increased my rank.

Also the bar was orange and not blue...

Can confirm same no return for surface classified data missions while station ones are good for ranking, just experienced same. It must be a bug as its crazy for it to be legit.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed? Id like to do surface missions to rank up, but since they dont pay much and are bugged (i think) with ranking up intentions i am desmotivated with them, so i am missing all surface content...

I just tested this and works fine for me.
I picked a job from an outpost - Transport Polymers to Youll Relay for 215K CR - for an Empire minor faction, low effect on both Reputation and Influence.
Before taking on the mission, my Empire rank was Baron - 43% and on completion the rank went up to Baron 46%.
I got the blue bar with blue arrows up on both Reputation and Influence, not the orange bar, although I do remember seeing orange bar in the past.

I shall give it a try then, because when i did some deliver missions, my progress bar was orange, but this was two weeks ago so it can work properly now.
