Newcomer / Intro Surface prospecting

I was using Horizons before the update. When I would surface prospect and shoot a meteorite the elements would explode out of the meteorite and land on the ground. The fragments would display inside the SRV on the circular map display. Since the update the fragments no longer show up on the circular map. You have to drive around in circles to try and find them. Anybody else notice this?

No, I only did some superfluous prospecting in Odyssey the other day when doing some other things on the surface. Fragments released showed up on the scanner as normal white icons - only the materials I had set to "ignore" were not displayed on there. So it is worth checking the contacts panel to see if the update set some to ignore.

As well as meteorite prospecting, fragments released at fumaroles also appeared as normal (none were of the "immovable obstacle" type either so that seems to have been fixed).

They still disappear into the planet if you drive over them with a wheel so you have to be careful how you scoop, but that is as it was in Odyssey already.

From what I saw before the latest update the drive over stuff and it vanishes mechanic seems to be doing the opposite, rather than squashing them into the ground from what I saw on the scanner they are being flipped really high up above you. In addition to seeing a trace of this on the scanner I have on a couple of occasions found the fragments after they had eventually crashed down again elsewhere.

That is of course, entirely possible. (y)

Today I went to collect mats from HGE's. When I popped into the HGE the mats are there but again don't appear on the circular display inside the ship. I adjusted the zoom on the circular display but it didn't work. So this is happening to me on the surface and in space. Could someone else try this out and let me know if it's just me or a bug please?

Nope - works perfectly for me.

Did you check the contacts page of the nav panel? If there is nothing there then your sensors are disabled. Check in Modules page of the Right-hand panel.

A big sorry to all the CDRs who tried to help me figure this out. It was 100% human error on my part. I hadn't done any prospecting for a long time and it just so happens that the first couple of mats I found were on my ignore list. Sorry.
