Newcomer / Intro SVR Datascanner Wont Fire

Had this problem when I was mat gathering on Davs Hope too, but never figured it out.

I'm sitting in front of a comms unit at the Jameson Crash site in my SRV. I have my Datalink scanner firegroup set to A2. I have the Comms unit targeted on my contacts nav window. I beleive all I have to do is enter turret mode, which I do, swing the scanner to the comms unit and press the fire2 button on my HOTAS. Nothing happends I do see the blue half circle under the comms unit in turret mode teleprescence active and blue squiggly line left bottom. When not in turret mode I have the blue line left HUD secondary B top datalink scanner bottom., turret mode red comms control and PUBLIC. Yet when I press the HOTAS fire2 button i get no scan. I must be doing something wrong but cannot figure out what. Help please!

Are you holding down the fire button until the link is established? Takes about 5 seconds and you can see it progress too.

Held it down for a full minute, nothing. I know the switch works as it's the same secondary fire I use to DSS probes, which I just did twice on the planet to get here, worked fine.

have you redone the hardpoints bindings?

Good point. Last update, mine all reset/cleared. I Ended up reassigning em.

Not sure I follow you. My button bindings for all functions work. Are you refering to my fire groups?

yeap, those.

Sometimes you may have to right click to target the data port than scan the data port.

There are occasional targeting nuances where you have to line it up just so to get the scan to begin.

You say "blue line"? So it sounds to me like your Cockpit Mode (another binding) is in "Analysis" mode (blue HUD). Toggle it to "Combat" mode for gadgets like Data Link Scanner (i think, not at game right now)
