I was always cautiously optimistic about these headsets, but throughout their development there's been all sorts of stories about poor performance, visuals, build quality etc.
This video has put most of those concerns to rest I think. I'm not entirely convinced of the 8k's value, I think quality vs clarity is going to be a discussion point for years to come, but in my own personal opinion, if the SDE is vastly reduced on the 5k, and the visuals are clearly improved, then the extra cost of the 8k is not justified to me. Of course, I've not looked through either HMD so I couldn't say for absolute certainty that the 5k is the better choice... but I imagine the cost of the 5k will be much lower, and considering the night-and-day difference between that and the Rift/Vive...I'm almost sold on the 5k.
