Swimming Pools and Semi-Aquatic Animals

The idea of swimming dinosaurs and semi-aquatics has been tossed around several times I see... usually the suggestions involve putting semi-aquatic animals in the lagoon or some new form of lake brush that presumably just makes the water deeper... considering the nature of this game, neither one makes much sense to me.

My idea was inspired by the original Zoo Tycoon's solution to semi-aquatics; a swimming pool system.

Constructed in the same way as our Aviaries and Lagoons, but with low walls that force the ground to run parallel to its edge, these tanks would easily accessible to our terrestrial creatures, yet be much shallower than the current lagoons... and because they are a largely static construction, animals would (presumably) be easier to program and animate, using the edge of the pool to move into and out of the water. The oversimplified nature--namely forcing the ground to conform to the edge of the pool--means it's likely we couldn't raise or lower the terrain around them, or otherwise stop animals from using any particular side to move in and out of water... naturally the pools would need to be surrounded by normal fencing to keep them contained.

Ideally there would need to be a fish feeder like those for the lagoon... so animals can catch free swimming fish as well. Like the lagoon fish feeder, it would attached to the side of the pool. Caring for swimming animals would remain as easy as caring for terrestrial animals; simply dart them with a helicopter and carry them off, or wait for them to exit the water... since they'll need to get out eventually... makes me wonder if we could tie swimming to the stamina bar or something.
