Switching Between Hotas 4 and Controller on PS4

Hi Everyone

Am using the Thrustmaster Hotas 4 and initial impressions are its great except for a few specific areas such as SRV (e.g. trying to drive in one direction and point the turret in another). While longer term I'll look at adjusting the setup, how do you quickly move from Hotas to PS4 controller and back? So far I've had to unplug the Hotas each time. Just changing the default controller in options does not work.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Curious as to people's experience with this myself as everytime I've turned off the game, unplugged the hotas and restarted elite with the DS4 it's wiped my binds as I customise my hotas and ds4 controls slightly :(

I'd be swapping between them both on my main profile if the custom settings for both were separate but as it is I'm only using the HOTAS on an alt account :(

Could avoid all the problems of controls getting unbound if they just added profiles you could save, so you could save out a control profile for hotas and one for DS4, and you'd never have to worry about binds getting cleared as you could just load a profile back in if things got messed up. I dont think you can even do this on PC which is a bit baffling to me.

Don't know if you have reset your ds4 configuations on your ps4 settngs, but if so, uncheck the box. The ds4 and the hotas has exactly the same default configurations.

I've tried rebooting the game with the hotas turned off and ds4 connected and going strait into a game without touching the control selection and it has zero binds :( to get the controller working again I have to select default binds then reconfigure them which loses the hotas changes :(

From what I've tried the would only work if you use totally default on both control options.

FDev really need to look into this as surely it can't be that difficult to let us have a seperate custom bind profile for a hotas or ds4 setup!?

So I’ve just received my HOTAS today, I’ve updated firmware and drivers, and it’s now not recognising it’s connected to the PS4. Prior to updating I had the option to set it to HOTAS in the controller section now it’s not showing! Any ideas.

Also when I did have the option to put it to HOTAS I then went back into game and nothing was working, I could literally only press the PS button on the stick no other button or control was registering even though I had chosen HOTAS from the menu.
Cheers Andy

Clicking on the hotas in the controler section causes the hotas to reset any and all configuations. If, you've done any configurations and wish to change them later, DO NOT CLICK ON THE HOTAS, all your configuation will be in the customs, that's where you would reconfigure your configuartations. Clicking on the hotas, simpley resets it.

The ps4 has the ability in it's settings to reconfigure any and all of the buttons on an official sony contoler. Hence the DS4 and Hotas 4 are official, one can change them there, but, not in both, if you've reconfigured any buttons via the ps4 settings, and then try to configure them in the games control section, there will be conflicts. Use one or the other, the in game is more convenent, so uncheck the box in your ps4 settings. Thus when you switch games and perfer your DS4 configuations, all you have to do is put the check back in. When switching back to ED and your hotas, uncheck it again.

^ Listen to Cmdr Nemo's advice, he's thoroughly tested all of this.

I've always seem to learn things the hard way, but learn them I do. I can sleep good at night knowing that I have actually been there, done that, and have 24 out of 25 cents in a quarter involved when making suggestions. My menu shows though my net worth is only 150,000,000, I've grossed over 500,000,000 todate. Hence the difference (350,000,000) was spent on schooling aka learning curve. Anyone who's owns a bussiness would tell ya, that's a great return for such an investment. I've got to keep almost one third of everything I've grossed. Major corporations primeraly for tax purposes are happy when their bottom line is only 3 percent, myne is 30 percent.

It's ironic how anyone and everyone understands it takes money to make money and then wants the government to forgive their student loans. Becoming a doctor or lawyer requires a lot of money, but then agian, they make a lot of money. Becoming a ditch digger doesn't require a lot of money, then agian, they don't make a lot of money. If one has the ordasity to request the government to pay for their becoming a doctor, then the ditch digger should get a free grant of equal porportions.

And least I forget, thanks for the cudo's!
