Switching between VR to Monitor when on-foot.

I remember a statement by frontier devs clearly stating that we would be able to seamlessly switch between VR and monitor when going on foot. More specifically they said you could just remove the headset and continue on foot on the monitor.

It doesn't seem to be working this way. Is this a feature that will eventually be implemented in the future?

I remember them saying that in VR you would switch to a virtual screen when going on foot (as it happens), not that you could remove the visor and continue playing on the monitor, but I might be remembering wrong. 🤔

For me, when it started the Odyssey tutorial first, it switched to the monitor completely. Apparently nothing like virtual desktop/screen or the like so far...

nope. they actually said you could either do that (which works fine) OR you could take off the headset and continue on the monitor. I think it was in one of the posts here or in a reply of one of the devs. I also remember them copy pasting the same on facebook.

I'm interested in this as well. So far I've had to switch it to fullscreen in the settings when on foot, then back to HMD when in ship. Huge pain. Hoping we will get a setting to dictate how the monitors behave when in foot or in ship/SRV.

As now, you either play whit the disgusting 720p flat screen in VR or:

1) shut down the game
2) you remove your headset
3) relaunch it in desktop mode
4) wait untill it loads up again
5) manually change some settings from the graphical option menu
6) select the game session type
7) look aty the nice loading screen
8) play

repeat that if you want to go back in VR to fly your ship/srv

You really don't have to do any of that. just go into your video setting, go down to 3D and choose the monitor instead of HMD. Hit 'Apply' and it turns off the HMD and throws it all at the monitor.
When you want to go back, follow the same steps and select HMD again.
Still a pain, but you don't have to close the game. You can switch back and forth just from within the settings.

no, you forget though that switching to VR changes the desktop screen to a window, you need to manually adjust the resolution back to full screen or borderless fulslcreen every time you apply VR

Mine used to do that every time, but since Odyssey it hasn't. It's been holding the fullscreen in the background, BUT, if I shut the game down and start it back up, then it will revert back to that tiny windowed screen on the monitor. Thankfully I have only had to tell it to go to my monitors resolution once per play session.

yes that's the main issue. I know i can switch but i hoped they'd just script that passage when you remove your headset and switch back to the proper desktop resolution. or at have a button to do that.

This is exactly what I'm hoping for.
As stated, mine doesn't revert back to 'tiny screen' on my monitor until I reboot the game, but I'd still just like the game to know to throw the image at my monitor if I take the headset off, or when I move into 'on foot' in game.
Just do it automatically.

That still means they're correct and all those steps aren't needed. Just press alt+return (the keyboard shortcut for making something fullscreen) and it's fine.

no it's not because the res resets every time and you'd end up playing at 720p in full screen. also the graphic settings for vr and high are necessarly different to keep a decent framerate. they should just implement a way that it saves the settings for desktop and vr and let you switch with a button.

I used to do it and didn't need to sort out res each time. That still means the stops aren't needed.
