Newcomer / Intro Switching Game Mode?

hi guys

I have searched but cant find anything on this - I want to play Online Play mode but for some reason my game defaults to Solo and wont switch even though I have deleted the saved game. Any ideas or am I missing something massive?

You have to super cruise once, before you are allowed into Open. So just super cruise away from the station and you will be fine. I think this was done to stop players from camping the starter station, also to protect all the new player from other new players.
