Modes Switching to Solo - am I alone?

Under restricted bandwidth you may still be able to PG with a limited number of people, so you're not completely alone.
It may be worth testing, with 2 or 3 friends. See if you can still run a wing under a poor connection.

But otherwise, I believe under Solo mode you can use a mobile (cell) phone connection to play the game.
IIRC there was a test done where someone played while on a moving train using a phone connection.

I may be "bandwidth-restricted" in a few weeks, and this could potentially last until late spring / early summer. It's a complicated story that I won't burden you with, but let's just say I'll be likely be restricted to solo for the next few months.

So I'm just curious, how many of you regularly play in solo mode? Do you ever miss seeing other CMDRs? I normally play in Open because I enjoy chance encounters with other players (it makes the game feel "alive"), but I rarely do any true multiplayer stuff like wings or multicrew these days. However, I have a little bit of FOMO, so somebody please comfort me, LOL :)

You will be, you will be... :)

1. Mostly solo except for CQC.
2. My main socializing platform is you guys right here. At the forums, from reading your posts I feel like I am getting to know the Commanders of ED. What's great is that here I can take the time to digest your thoughts whenever I feel like it. In addition, here I get to meet console Commanders, too.

Forums is Open without the flying bit.

Mostly solo, to old and slow now to give another cmdr anything but a win. I have jumped into Mobius a few times made a friend here and there to do missions for fun, gonna ask to join an anti thargoids wing which I have no chance of doing solo. Still hopelessly hoping FD will add some solo type missions to the board like the old dayz. You know. Something simple like. Here's the code to a locked system, get in, get out unseen, scan this and be away.
Make it difficult, make us work for our dinner. :)

I've always played in OPEN but I'm starting to think about moving to solo.

Never had bad experiences with other players and I love to randomly meet some CMDRs out in the black but I start to realize that it doesn't change anything because I have no interaction with them...so no point in paying PS +.

My only & best open experience was defending the Gnosis with plenty of CMDRs...I had a blast ! I winged-up 2 times in 600h of gaming and my internet connection really s*ck so I can't multi-crew or go into crowded instances.

I'm more into PvE, exploration and not at all into PvP.

Also, if I can get better performance in solo it could be nice.

With the shared community discoveries of the incoming CODEX and the BGS that are cross-platform it still feel like multiplayer at some point and it's enough for me.

I played in solo because I didn't want to be seal-clubbed. The first two years of the game was spent preparing, until one day I hit that Open button and felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time I saw a hollow box for a week. Then I had a few practice pvp fights with friends and my confidence grew. I realised that all that time spent fighting the AI wasn't wasted and that I was surprisingly effective.

Haven't pressed 'solo' since except for board flipping (very rare) or to land at an occupied outpost (ridiculously often).

Solo about 95% pg about 5% with friends. I have zero intrest in pvp or random player interactions. I have played open excatly 0 minutes for the above reasons.

I play whatever mode takes my fancy.

I've been mainly in Open for the last few months, but mostof the time its little different to PG or solo.

Even at Shirarta didn't get much interaction beyond the occasionsal o7.

Yes you are alone.

I mean, that's why they call it "Solo"

Been there since launch, though I do go into open a lot, now. Because of my latency with the internet connection I use to speak of being so low. I generally end up staying in Solo.

Though having a private game in which only a very few at any one time would actually be involved at any one time, might work. I've got such a private game in which my son in MN and I can actually play togeather without me loosing any connection more than the games server's and xbox servers cause naturally.
