Community Event / Creation Sx2vJoy; get your 3DConnexion device working like a 3D joystick (formerly SN2vJoy)

A quick question. Just dug out a Space Navigator for use with ED. I know I need vJoy and Sx2vJoy, but do I also need 3DConnexions drivers or are they redundant.

Just tried to install vJoy from the official site and when I run configure vJoy I get vJoyInterface.dll version (216) does not match driver version (0) Do you want to continue anyhow? Any ideas?

*** Problem sorted

I found it does need the 3DC driverfor input into Sx2vJoy. The driver match error was cured by a reboot.

can I use this to use my "hockey puck" only for the debug camera, and use my logitech stick and pad for flying?

You could map the axes to the digital inputs and only use it when you're in debug cam mode, but there is only one ananlogue axis per control, and the camera controls use the axis bindings.

(necro, but I'm posting so I van find this thread again easily)

what I would REALLY love to have is this kind of mapping:
Joystick: for flying the ship
USB Game Pad: for driving the SRV
Space Navigator button: toggle debug camera
Space Navigator axis: moving/rotating the debug camera
(windows 10 capture mode for making moves of that awesome quaternary system that just almost killed me)

I am considering getting one of those 3D Connexion SpaceMouse Pro... is the first post still relevant and up to date? Do we really need to do all that for this to work?

I tried to set up my 3DConnexion SpaceNavigator a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately the game can't handle the hardware without the additional programms.

You need vJoy and Sx2vJoy for it to work properly.

once you did the setup in vJoy you set it as a device in Sx2vJoy and do the ingame setup. pretty easy if you ask me.
if you want to bother with more then the quick standard settings is up to you... i didn't bother with that and it works great.

oh and don't forget to run Sx2vJoy before starting the game.

hope i could help :)

fly safe,

Has anyone here noticed that Sx2vJoy grabs control of all vJoy devices?

I can't, for example, seem to use JoystickCurves and Sx2vJoy at the same time - you have to activcate Sx2vJoy first and then launch JoystcikCurves, but JSC seems not to be able to actually control the other vJoy device.

I have a Spacemouse Wireless, and ED recognised it without needing any other drivers, just the latest Connexion3D drivers.

I use it for camera control.

In case anyone reads this far... I've recently found a very nice app called "ControlMyJoystick", specifically designed for interfacing 3DConnexion controllers to Elite. Been very impressed with it so far for my SpaceNavigator. Sadly the old SpacePilot I have is not supported by the current 3DConnexion drivers, so I can't get it to work :-(
