So, I'm sat at work having not been able to play ED for more than a week due to PC failure when some new goodies turn up.
A shiny new Rampage 5 with 5930k cpu and DDR4 with a new Antec case.

GREAT! Better download the latest version of Elite so I can go home and start the weekend.
(internet connection at home is less than 1mb....work has 60mb)

But this....

And it's been like that for 2 hours....

I need to go home!!

was same for me, 2 hours for the major update recently. And yesterdays update whilst not as long, was having the same issues.

I've had this.

Stop the update and restart it (you may have to re-download any file that was mid-download, but the loss is minimal). All fully downloaded/updated files are retained.

It worked for me anyway.

The big update was slow I admit. But this last one was pretty quick at home and at work... just downloaded it. :)

I get the same issue, hovers at or around 0Mb/s for a minute or two then speeds up then drops back.
(tested with speedtest)
36.20Mb/s at work, 63.59Mb/s at home
Definitely not my connection speed at fault!

You lucky ... thing (actual adjective I wanted to use blocked by nicey filter)

I've been told my home has been chosen as one of the less than 2% homes in the UK that will never see fast broadband :(

It's quicker for me to drive 30 mins to work to download anything more than a 200mb file.

Curse the countryside with its stinking farmers and roads covered in cow poo.
