SYS: More than just Shields?

Someone just left an interesting comment on one of my videos...

Kenny Kelley - I noticed when you are in super cruise you have everything to engines. If you want faster super. Cruise you should put your power to the systems when in super cruise.

I know adding power to engines doesn't really affect SC, it's just my last input before jumping. Does SYS affect SC? Am I the last person to know about this, or is it a bunch of phooey?

SC speed, acceleration are same to all ship and fsds doesn't have any effect on your ships performance in sc. Same with power, it doesn't matter if you have more or less power in system or engine. Only thing/stat that have any effect to sc is your ships agility stat/number. Eagle have agility 10 and anaconda have agility 2. Anaconda turn rate in sc is much worse than eagles turn rate. Better agility (higher number) the better ship turn in sc. You can´t change ships agility by changing modules etc.

Frontier really needs to add some stuff to the System power supply in my opinion.

You know, do some interesting stuff, like add jammers.

Don't like getting scanned? Fit a jammer and fire it up when you've got a scan detected, it'll suck System power as long as it's active based upon it's strength, and it'll increase the length of time needed to scan you, also based upon it's strength, as compared to the strength of the scanner. Scanners that're getting jammed kick in the juice also, and start draining System power.

Yay, now we have a game mechanic and more interesting pip management outside of combat. I'm gettin' randy just thinking about it.

And it'll never happen. :(

Ohh a jammer sounds way cool :)

This has all made me wonder if there is a ship that can make it's FSD charge faster? or maybe it does not matter as they are all the same?

Wow, I've used all 3 of those consistently in most of my ships and I never noticed that they drew power from Systems.

Just goes to show how much that resource impacts gameplay.

Well actually it does affect gameplay a lot because everyone has lots of heat sinks now. You'll run dry fast if you keep all your pips out of SYS and keep heat sinking.

I suppose FD could add a "jammer" but they already have a system for avoiding NPC scans so it wouldn't really add anything IMO.

And somehow the Gunship has 11 agility in SC lol
