System Architect Security Clearance Granted

System Architects should be granted security clearance level 2 at their settlements. I understand not granting level 3 so as to keep the commander out of some areas for their own safety. But a Level 2 should be granted so the architect can choose to do an inspection of the facilities. I'd envision you land at your settlement and there would be an NPC (like the outside mission givers) you would speak with and they would reply, "Welcome commander. It is an honor to have the architect visiting us today, here is your visitors pass."

There are already missions in the game that auto-grant level 3 access when sent to get the power running again in a settlement so this doesn't seem like it would be hard to implement.

If architects could be trusted not to do any mission like activities while using such access it might happen, but almost certainly won’t.

The trouble is by the time there is anything in the facility to see it is up and running so really no longer anything to do with the architect.

Obligatory "it's not your settlement". And it would probably open the gates for some easy material farming exploits. Don't think Frontier would ever implement this suggestion and I personally think they shouldn't either.

First, doing missions with granted access IS THE WHOLE POINT why we should be granted access. It isn't unbalancing. Other illegal actions are still illegal (stealing, killing those without warrants, etc.) It would incentivize commanders to build more in their sectors (especially Large size planetary settlements). We are hauling all the materials for days, sometimes weeks to build out the projects that wouldn't exist if we didn't do it so, architects absolutely should be treated as celebrities in the sectors they have done all the work in.

It would be different if the background sim auto built and expanded into the sectors, if all you did was help contribute to some of the settlements, but that isn't the case, they wouldn't be getting colonized if not for the sole efforts of a commander, bringing wealth, security, and space for colonists to come start a new life.

It is perfectly fair to give architects an easier time to complete mission at the settlement's in their sectors they have worked so hard to develop. It would give commanders a stronger reason to play the game in their "home base" systems.

Otherwise we are just building for the possibility of benefiting others if they happen to pass through the system, for a very small weekly pay.

And should the commanders who have hauled even more stuff than the architects also get a free pass inside the base?
After all the only bit of the work that has to be done by an architect is getting the job and selecting what gets built where.

Otherwise we are just building for the possibility of benefiting others if they happen to pass through the system, for a very small weekly pay.
That is exactly what we are doing.

You're an architect, not the grand high poobah. You do the hard work so that others can profit and give you a tiny kickback, 's just how it is. ;)
