System breaking issues with firewire audio interface after new patch

Just a heads up, loading Elite Dangerous when you have Spotify playing will cause catastrophic problems in firewire audio interfaces.
The interface I use is a Focusrite Saffire Pro-26, and loading ED causes the interface to cycle sample rates seemingly at random and finally crash out of the application requiring its termination with task manager. The interface is then no longer recognised in Windows.

Now spending messing around with settings was not what I planned on doing this weekend, but here we go. Here is what I have found to 'fix' the problem:
With the interface connected (eg cycling LOCKED and FIREWIRE lights at random) remove the driver in Windows device manager selecting the option to delete the driver off the machine when you do. Then restart and reinstall the Saffiremix software, and shutdown cycle the computer (not soft restart, the interface needs to cold power down). From there load the SaffireMix software checking to see it connects to the interface. To fix the sample rate cycling load an application that is ASIO compliant (DAW etc) and this seems to set a steady sample rate, returning the device to proper operation.

Now I reinstalled Elite for the new patch so have not had it installed for a few weeks, but before I removed it the game played fine whilst listening to spotify, and I have not had this problem with any other games/software. I have subsequently tried loading ED with Spotify playing, and it recreates the issue reliably with this setup. So for the time being I would advise people do not run the two pieces of software if they are using the Firewire bus for audio.
