System Colonization Coordination Group/Discord

Hi everyone!

Since system colonization is coming next year, I was wondering if anyone has set up a group or Discord server to announce their colonization plans and ask for materials. If not, perhaps I could make one?

System Colonization seems to be very much a cooperative process, requiring the help of other commanders to transport a large amount of materials. I was inspired by the wonderful work of Operation Ida, who are selflessly gathering materials to repair starports damaged during Thargoid attacks. It would be great to apply the same thinking to system colonization.

I don´t think it´s happening, at least not early on. As we approach the update release, we remain in the "Dark Forest" phase, where each player group and squadron waits patiently before making their blitzkrieg-style land grab move. Because the costs of colonisation will apparently be so low, that most squadrons will have enough numbers to be capable of launching massive colonisation waves, claiming what they want. To say nothing of really big, bloated bandwagon groups.

Obviously, at this stage, it´s clear that no one is going to publicly reveal where they want to colonise and expand or share that information with anyone, but wait and watch. Otherwise, if you disclose your exact plans, there´s a high chance someone will swoop in and ruin them. Which could be an even bigger player group for instance, simply because your plans happen to conflict with theirs.

Once the first colonisation wave begins and all colonisers are revealed, it will become clear where each squadron and player group is heading - then will it be the time for negotiations and coordination.

what's in it for the CMDRs who help the colonization effort? Since the system will be owned by a single CMDR, should the funds only come from him? I think so. Colonization needs to feel meaningful and leave a big dent in the CMDR wallet. You should be near to broke at the end. This is to prevent people from abusing the system by colonizing one system after the other.

for instance, the system colonizer can setup a CG with tiered rewards for participating in the CG. my understanding is that the material requirements will be a huge task that cannot be done by one dude, but rather require a huge group effort. The colonizer should set up a fund account (similar to FC) and load it with money that will be paid out for anyone who participate. payout will be determined by your contribution, much like PowerPlay

From what was said the working theory is that it will be a serious undertaking for a median level single player. but at that level it's effectively a roflstomp for a carrier owner.
Given the scale of apparent interest it's unlikely that there will be many loose Cmdrs to assist with building so generally solo efforts to start with. We migt well see a a fair number of failures as those that weren't prepared for the hauling come up short.
