System crash during gameplay - now graphics card runs hot and GeForce Experience cannot optimise settings
As title, had a crash during gameplay (which happens once in a blue moon and is Marvell SATA-driver related, not gfx-related) - but graphics settings were lost and I had to reapply in-game. Now the graphics card runs noticeably hotter and GeForce Experience cannot optimise settings. Performance is unaffected, but I suspect something is up.
Anyone experienced this, or have a suggestion to fix?
Nvidia 980Ti not overclocked / minimal factory overclock
2560x1440
Fullscreen
Vertical sync Off
Refresh rate 143.96Hz
Frame rate limit 144Hz
Quality Ultra
Steady 143.9x FPS in space
1. Since 2.1, card ran noticeably cooler in space, fans only kicking in for stations and surfaces. Put this down to game optimisation and was even happier with the card. Since the crash, it runs hot all the time.
2. Now GeForce Experience cannot optimise settings for either Horizons or Elite. Launching the game through Experience makes no difference.
3. The only Experience value that was displayed as different - Texture quality: current value "-", recommended "High" (note Ultra is not an option here)
4. I backed up and deleted the files in C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics
5. I set the graphics up again in Horizons manually - no choice as Experience requires initial settings in-game.
6. Now game performance is the same, but Experience is worse - most of the settings appear as "-" or different to the recommended settings.
All this used to work just fine for months, so now I'm confused. I'm technically minded but no gfx expert, so I don't arbitrarily mess with stuff unless I'm confident that I know what I'm doing, or that I can at least roll back if I cause an issue. Thoughts appreciated, cheers!
