System Error trying to play game from launcher

I am getting the message below every now and again when I try to play the game from the launcher. If I reboot the PC then it works fine.

system error
unable to create a 3D accelerated display device. please check your display drivers. ABORT

I have the latest nvidia driver 31st august and it was doing it before I updated it and after as well.

right click empty desktop nvidia control panel,manage 3d settings.global settings.cuda gpu selection
could try that too if running on a laptop
can we assume a stress test runs fine furmark etc
also delete your gpuworktable xml from your products folder in case sumthin nasty stuck in the game cache (prob should do that first my bad)

there is a setting in Nvidia control panel "open GL rendering gpu" it says autoselect but thas an option to set it to RTX 3090? Cuda settings are all and there is only 3090 ticked and available

I have a launcher shortcut on my desktop. where will I find the icon you mention?
Also I updated the driver yesterday or the day before and the issue came back today once but not since.

yes the launcher shortcut should lead you to
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\frontier developments\EDLaunch
not sure of location if bought though epic steam etc

er I don't have the steam version so I am guessing now somewhere here maybe C:\Steam\steamapps\common
look for frontier folders
