OOC: I thought it might be fun for people to post up guides and self written lore for some of their favourite/home systems that haven't already been covered by either FD or the writers previously :) Join in and provide as much as you want, but try and keep it to one post per system (if you want to amend stuff, just edit your initial post).

Rataxo

Star Types: M2 VA, L2 V
Allegiance: Imperial
Economy: Industrial
Government: Patronage
Population: 3.5 Million
Galactic Co-ordinates: -14 : -88: 59

Summary: Following the Federal-Imperial war that concluded with a cold war state that exists today, the Federation and the newly fledgling Duval Empire and numerous independent corporations rapidly mounted expansion and colonisation programmes into the resource abundant systems that existed in the previously unclaimed systems out towards the Prism system.

The initial Imperial survey departed Achenar under the command of the Quaestor Decimus Le Fonte aboard the Imperial Cartographic Survey Ship Volusenus, a Commius class exploration capital ship.

The ship, built in the time before the new frame shift drives, was capable of independent survey for periods in excess of five years with fully equipped research lab, refining facitilies, communication suite and was able to act as a home base for the six Mk I Asp's embarked that were tasked with actually conducting the initial surveys.

Upon entering the area detailed by the Cartographic Ministerium, Le Fonte quickly set up Rataxo as a base camp due to it's central location and set his team to task, conducting the initial survey rapidly within two months of his arrival in the area.

However, his stickler like attention to detail proved an issue for the ministeriums intent to physically control the region. Focusing on systems which he felt were crucial to enable the region to self sufficiently grow as a priority, he ear marked Rataxo itself for an Industrial colony (due to it's aforementioned centrality to potential surrounding mining installations) and quickly set to work with a project to turn the nearby unclaimed Gelong system into a breadbasket world. Unfortunately, natural predatory wildlife set the project back on numerous occasions and Le Fonte was unwilling to proceed with mining projects until the Gelong colony was self-sustaining. The numerous setbacks allowed the Federation (as well as several small corporations) to move into the region and claim many of the systems, dashing the Empire's hopes of total dominace of the region.

However, the venture was not regarded as a total failure. By securing the strategic systems, Le Fonte ensured that the mining installations, particularly indpendent ones, are dependent on supplies from Rataxo for industrial and Gelong for it's provisions. Additionally these installations are still at present mostly trading with Rataxo itself, hungry as always for materials for production. Ensuring that it's single station, Bus Hub, continues to earn its name.

Star Type: G5 V
Allegiance: Imperial
Economy: Agriculture/Extraction
Government: Patronage
Population: 550,000
Galactic Co-ordinates: 70 : 37: 43

Summary: Following the conclusion of the Thargoid War in 3151, GALCOP with support of the two superpowers established several deep space listening stations in the general area of previous incursions to provide advance warning in the event the Thargoids should return.
For their part in the process the superpowers were required to supply materials needed to maintain the outposts once they were up and running. One of these stations was founded in the Morten-Marte, and the Empire accepted the responsibility to supply the Uranite required for the extensive powerplant network required to power these advanced listening posts.
The paperwork and legislation required to establish Codorain was pushed through relatively quickly, with the Emperor's Grace providing Patronage for the system with two lesser Imperial business interests, Codorain General Industry and the Codorain Network forming as their cliens.
Inital construction work began with the priority of getting the extraction industry up to speed, so two small outposts, Safdie Terminal and Dean Station were quickly put together and both completed in the year 3153 at which point large fleets of small freighters in convoy under the protection of the Clasis Codorain from these two outpost until their arrival at Morten-Marte, at which point the responsibility was transferred to GALCOP until the conclusion of their journey at James Sneddon starport.
Finally, in 3155 the Starport Cormack Hub was completed. The Station, named after senator Titus Cormack (who was recognised as the systems senatorial representative following the stations construction), acted as a form up point for the convoys before their departure to Morten-Marte.
At this stage, in-system security improved considerably as the amalgamation of the two convoys freed up the Clasis Codorain to persecute the slow rise of piracy the system had started to encounter, driving them for the most part back to their base of operations in nearby Komovoy.
Sadly, in 3174, GALCOP was dissolved and the listening posts earmarked for scrap. Weirdly, after the final supply run from Codorain, the auditors sent by the Bank of Zaonce found that much of the listening equipment listed in the itenary had gone missing. Additionally, at this time Codorain saw a surge in demand for construction supplies and the supply of Uranite dropped off. Even today, Codorain's Senator refute any allegation of a connection between these facts.
Today, Codorain continues to thrive despite being the sole Imperial system within an 80ly bubble, primarily due to it's abundant raw material supply and it's moderately close location to several of the Old world Industrial and High-Tech systems, with which it maintains strong trade links.
