the ship shouldn't know that a system scan is complete until after you honk an uninhabited system (all planets not instantly on map).

i know it's been wrong forever. it should be fixed.
if I'm not given a list of all the bodies as soon as i enter every system, then my ship doesn't know what total number of bodies are in the system. i honk and that tells me the total number. then if that equals what I've detected already, it should say system scan complete. it shouldn't say that before hand. even if there is just the 1 star.
if the above isn't true, then i should be given the total body count as soon as i jump in without honking
Yet it will tell you it's complete when there's just the local star. It shouldn't be able to know that unless it can give me the total count for any system. This happens across the entire galaxy. I'm 30k ly away from the bubble - but location doesn't matter nor does what any other players have done matter. I'm in systems literally nobody has ever been to. But the effect doesn't require that. You are, the UC computer in your ship is updated when another player sells the data to the UC office, so the ship already knows how many planets have been discovered in that system, but it doesn't know how many there are so it can't give you a total count! You can't be given a total body count because the original discoverer may not have bothered finding all of them and reporting them, many times I have jumped into systems where only a few of the bodies had been discovered. The computer know what bodies ave been reported, but it doesn't know how many there are in total so it can't give you a total count until you honk.
But...you still haven't actually discovered them yourself until you scan them, the only information you have is what the previous player reported, and he may have scanned with the FSS and not mapped them. He may have scanned them using old tech and not gathered all the body info, details may have changed since he scanned the system, new stations, popping up all the time these days, new surface ports, invasion by Thargoids, new tech being used that reports guardian sites, so until you scan everything the system scan can't be complete.
.... If i can jump into a system and immediately the ship's computer can tell me the entire system has been scanned when it finishes with the local star, yet i haven't honked - then it knew how many things were in the system as soon as i jumped in, and it does this ANYWHERE in the galaxy. ........
Hmm ... are you confusing those systems that originally were known to everyone but when the FSS was introduced were changed to "Unknown" until you jumped into the system and then you had the old original, complete system info?
P.S. I have no idea why they made those systems "Unknown" like that.
No, this has been happening since they changed the honking behavior and it happens literally anywhere in the galaxy.
I've been to well over 20,000 different systems. Many of which - far out in the black where nobody cares to go because it's not at some interesting place. This behavior happens anywhere and everywhere. The number of systems players visited before current 1st scanned etc recording is miniscule. Even after, the number of systems players have visited is tiny. If the behavior wasn't universal, i would consistently see single body systems not tell me that the system scan is complete as soon as the ships is done scanning the local star, but i dont recall ever having that happen. if the ship scans all the bodies before a honk ...it knows it ...no matter where you are.
and more importantly, it only tells you the number of bodies it immediately sees on sensors for all other systems (except those you have exploration data on) and it doesn't say "system scan complete" so it knows for those systems that there is more to be found and it requires you to honk to discover them and update the system count. If all of these systems have been visited by other players and that's why it knows the single body systems are complete, then it should also know the same info for the systems that aren't single body - yet it doesn't say so. It makes me honk for the number. It would be very odd for other player's to specifically only visit single body systems and skip all the multi-body ones. It can't exist both ways. Either all the systems have been visited and the computer knows the count before i visit....or this is a bug that should be corrected.
