System scans post 2.2

Greetings,

Been having a problem since 2.2 launched with finding systems to mine. I've been hopping system to system near my mining ship to find planetary rings to mine. I'll enter an unknown and unscanned system to try and find pristine reserve rings. Trouble is, the system map is not displaying the quality of the reserves in a ring sometimes. I mean when you select a planet in the system map, previously it would tell me what the reserve quality (pristine, major etc.) was and then whether the rings are metallic, icy etc.
It still tells me whether the ring is icy, but now, I don't always get the information in the system map for reserve quality.

I am jumping into a system, firing up the advanced discovery scanner, and then scanning planets that have rings. I have both an advanced discovery scanner and a detailed surface scanner equipped.
This problem doesn't always occur though. From what I can gather, it seems to be that if there is a planet in the system that has rings, but the ring is only a single ring, ie: just one belt, no reserve data is shown.
If it's a system with no planetary rings, but has an asteroid belt, these get displayed normally. A system that has ringed planets, but all planets have rings with different belts, it shows fine.

Anyone else having this issue? Have checked patch notes and the scanning megathread, but didn't see anything in there.

Thanks

Quality of rings has never been shown before the planet they are around has been scanned as far as I know?

Only asteroid belts show?

I noticed it yesterday when looking for 50 Bromellite for one of the new engineers.

Note this was in bubble systems where the Galaxy Map had complete info for the systems.

I only looked at two but your theory bears out for me Gankkex: a planet with only one ring type had no type info for it. A close by system had a planet with a two tyoe ring (metal-rich and icy) and it had all the usual info available in the system map. Looks like a 2.2 introduced bug?

Edited: my memory wasn't correct. The planet without ring type info was a 2-type ring (Yamasan system). It is possible that I need to detailed surface scan it - but am too far away to try that now]

been flying up to ringed planets in supercruise until scanners are in range and letting them finish. Planet is then listed as whatever it's name is and not unexplored. Still doesn't always show the ring quality.
Plus if it's absent for one planet in the system, I've found it won't show it for any planet in the system either.

@Lord of the isles:

yes, I've only had this occur since 2.2 released. Previously, it seemed to work fine, never had this issue.

you have always had to 'Detailed surface scan' ringed planets to find out what the state of the rings is.. sometimes you will have that info already (much like any system that you have previously not visited, but still have all of that systems info)

Hmmm, it may be that my problem yesterday wasn't connected to yours OP. Now that the servers are back up I've had a look at the system map and have edited my post above. I'll update when I get back to the bubble and go to the system in question (maybe a few days).

Yes I am having issues with the Detailed Surface Scanner.

1. Inside a certain system which has 5 Ringed planets, 4 are Gas Giants and display Ring type only. The non Gas Giant Ringed planet displays Reserve information & Type OK. I can confirm I am scanning with the DDS as the confirmation "More information can be found in the System Map" in displayed after scanning.

- I have found a Gas Giant with Reserve information, but the system was already known. I did not scan the Gas Giant myself.

- I have since found another system with 6 Gas Giants & 1 Icy body, all with Rings that all scanned correctly.

- I have since gone back to the system mentioned in 1 above. I had to re-scan the planets as they had all reverted to "unknown". After scanning the Gas Giants still do not display correctly. So the problem appears to be with specific systems or has a random nature I cannot deduce.
