System Security Forces....how do they work?

I've recently taken to Undermining systems.
One of the systems I sit in is Pica....picau....where ever Clark and Bean Station are....

Anyway to get to the point, I've been destroying Imperial Supply ships left and right.
Now and then I get lucky and I breech their cargo hatches before they blow and a flood of
Imperial Garrison Supplies come spilling out and I start scooping them with my collectors.
However this becomes a headache as System Security forces always arrive very quickly.

*During one such time after killing a Type 9 over 50 Imperial Supplies were waiting for me to pick up.
Not wanting to leave them I began firing on the Security Forces (5 Eagles), however every time I would kill 1 more would show up....
Finally down to 60% hull I jumped away leaving behind a large number of the supplies.

** However in another instance I stopped a Player Type-7 coming back from trading Imperial Slaves, Ordering him to " pay a fine " of 40 of his 120 Gold Cargo. He obeyed...after I took his hull down to 32% and dumped the cargo, and as soon as he jumped away and I started scooping cargo....the cops came....focusing on getting as much gold as I could I ignored them spamming chaffs. Then SUDDENLY they all yelled at me....and self destructed....?
Which hey...great...I can collect my gold now...but ?

How do Secruity Forces work? CAN they be destroyed enough to make them stop spawning when not in supercruise mode?
I understand that ships will almost always report crimes against them, and I like the concept of system security forces....I just wish there was something I could do about them besides let them shoot at me while Im collecting my loot.

I've tried a few times going cold + silent running before they were hostile but they always seem to know im there and start firing....

Try a system with a lower security score.
.
Based on your post and with the exception of that self destructing thing, I think everything is working how it should.
.
Authority should absolutely be a pain in your side if you're doing crime. Usually it's quite manageable and if anything, they need to be made stronger and more pushing.

Generally I agree with that, but on the other hand the swift authority reaction made piracy very frustrating, again. Now that they finally lifted the 20 ton limit and gave us collector limpets, pirates can't pick up their booty due to security interference.

Of course this is as it should be to a degree, but on the other hand it has led to me killing any trader who doesn't comply to my demands immediately. I used to take out their drives and cargo hatch before, but that's no longer practical, because once I have to shoot, the booty is lost anyways. So in the end the stronger security response leads to more traders being killed instead of actually helping them.

If you have hatch breakers, you have a lot more time to scoop if the npc you're interdicting has no shields at all. The hatch breaker won't aggro the npc, so he'll continue flying in a straight line and his cargo will be too.

I don't pirate NPCs, because they tend to carry only worthless junk and hatch breakers pull only a few tons out. Unlike commanders there's no way to talk them into "voluntarily" dropping their cargo.

I will gladly pirate NPCs, though, once they make it more worthwhile, if ever.

Didn't know hatch breakers don't aggro them, though. Thanks for the interesting info.

How often do you find a NPC ship with no shields and good cargo....
I mean I guess you could RAM them to get their shields down, I guess its something to try out.

I guess Im just going to have to find another system to undermine. One with a lower sec score.
I've been picking on Senator....Senator....what ever his name is....
But Maybe Ill switch to attacking that Ugly old Crone's systems.

I just wish I could find someone to give all these Imperial Supplies too that was part of Princess Duvall's faction.
