System Security Levels

Okay, embarrassingly, I give up.

What's the deal with seeing the security level of some systems?

Sometimes this - yay see security level:


Other times this - nothing I can click on will show me the security level:

If you scroll over so you are off of the star with the wasd keys I think. You should get the general system data with the security level on. Hope that helps

In the second instance you are highlighting the star, when you are not highlighting any object you get the system info.

Clicking off the star with mouse doesn't work. Haven't tried wasd keys yet - will do when I get home.

Left+Right mouse button allows you to "drag" off the star.

Joystick x/y also works, if you use one.


It's silly, in my opinion, to have a concept like System Security stuffed away in a sub-map, and then have it obscured by the initial cursor position!

System Security (or lack thereof) should drive everything from "how do new pilots stay safe?" to "where are the risks and rewards highest?".

When was the last time anyone checked the Security Level of a destination system, before choosing to jump there?

I have actually checked this numerous times, but only in the course of a pre-jump sysdata recording into my log. Can't recall ever checking it to determine my personal safety though.
