With the new players coming to the game off steam sales and the PS4 release we naturally have a lot of threads here and on the subreddit about people getting ganked.
Now I know there is a talks of a Karma system in the worlds and I don't have the details on it, but that's not what I'm here to talk about today. I'm here to talk about System Security.
High Security, Medium Security, & Low Security.
Currently my experience has been more or less like this: If you commit a crime system security shows up and the security state of the system is basically a rough estimate of the response time. High Security responds really fast, Low security might not show up fast enough. This is fine, that's how it should be.
What isn't fine is what shows up. It always seems to be the same thing most of the time Vipers and Eagles 2 or 3 sometimes 4. To a ganker in a Federal Corvette those are no threat what so ever.
Now I'm not suggesting Elite copy Eve Online where if you attack someone in High Sec space you get swarmed so hard that you're going to die. I think that's going too far.
What needs to happen is a more dangerous security response based upon the system security state.
High Security should send out 4-8 High Tier combat ships to respond within seconds of the crime being committed that do not need to scan you first to know who is the bad guy. I'm talking send out Assault Ships, Gunships, FDLs, Anacondas, Corvettes. An encounter with system security should be a Run Away you're to die encounter with a possibility of surviving a fight with them and winning if you're really good and/or have good back up. It shouldn't be impossible to pull of a crime in high sec space but it should be REALLY Dangerous to do it.
and naturally this should be scaled down a bit for Medium Security, and kept about how it is now for Low Security.
A small tweak like this to how system security responds would solve a lot of problems. Don't make it a no-win scenario to encounter system security like Eve does, just make it a very dangerous scenario depending on the systems security state because right now it seems the response is usually about the same regardless of where you commit a crime and the response is useless vs high tier combat ships.
