System to buy frameshift drives?

Has anyone found a system which sells frameshift drives regularly? Can't seem to find them anywhere....:S

been struggling to find many upgrades - including frameshift drive I have not seen any Gimballed weapons anywhere

Gimballed is now part of the description and not in the name. It would help if people actually paid attention to what they are doing sometimes. :/

Been having a real hard time finding one for my Viper as well, which isn't helped by the measly 6ly jump range. I was Styx for several hours spamming outfitting and it had just about everything besides an FSD and power supply. It even had an A rated KWS which had such a high power requirement that it's pretty much impossible to install on a viper.

I looked just about everywhere I could reach, and found a power supply in Bolg. Still yet to find an FSD. Not sure if I can reach G180 with such a poor range, but will definitely be checking that out tonight.

I really hope the randomness of the market is just something present beta. I get that when you're flying on the outskirts of civilisation that parts would be more or less random, but for places like Wyrd and Aulin, and even Eranin, it makes absolutely no sense. They'd be prowd of what they're selling, especially if others don't have them in stock, and would therefore be spamming the news with advertisements. Additionally, why wouldn't the companies producing these things not be advertising their equipment and letting people know where to buy them?

This isn't like trading where I completely understand the point about not wanting to tell the player everything. We need to know that there is somewhere we can head too to buy these things - even if it means having to travel half the galaxy to reach. The rest can then be randomised, and it's then the player's choice on either trying to get lucky on local systems or heading for somewhere like Wyrd that are advertising the part you're after.

Bought an A4 FSD for my Cobra from Styx.

I do agree that finding equipment should be easier. Maybe use the Bulletin Board for advertising? "Special offer in military-grade Power Distributors in System X. Get yours while supplies last". Or something.

Hoshi > That's actually a very good idea, one that I haven't seen mentioned before. People discuss about wether available parts should be random or fixed, but I think your idea of having both depending on the location would be perfect.
It makes sense that important high tech systems (for example) would have a steady supply of all parts they can sell, while more remote stations or outposts could have a more random availability.
I hope this gets considered by the devs.

I think at the end of the day, like most things, people would prefer the choice.

Some ultra rare parts and ships can stay random, but for the most part I think there should always be a fixed location that sells it. You counter that by either ensuring it is always a minimum distance from the player, or by giving it a premium.

Want a ship built by Faulcon DeLacy? Either hunt down the best price in random local markets, fly to system X who are currently advertising it on the bulletin boards (and is half an hour away) or head to FDL's shipyards at Lave and pay double the price.

Want an FSD? Bulletin board has a 3B advertised for sale in Wyrd (for double the price), in system x (for an average price - but it'll take 30 mins to get there) or hunt random local markets for a bargain.

That seems a fair better way of doing it. The player either chooses to hunt local systems, with the potential of finding it straight away, or accepts a time or monetary sinc by going to the advertised location. That suits everyone, and it actually makes sense from an in-lore immersion standpoint.

Foster Research Lab in Assellus Primus had the power plant and the FSD for my Eagle and Beagle 2 Landing in the same system had a good power distributor. Also a good selection of ships in Beagle 2, but all this changes often - this was last night and don't know if they are still there.

I've brought a 53K FSD at that Foster Research Lab in Assellus Primus for my Sidewinder and get 16LY out of it. There was a queue though. Someone nameless kept bumping me. They took my shields and only a few percent off my hull before I tucked so close to the station, out of the way, I could see the brush strokes on the panels paintwork. I got docking permission shortly afterward but I wish Commanders had a little more patience.

Think parts supply is economy dependent. IF the station, has sufficient amounts of materials x parts are produced. If not - no parts. Missions would be formed for transfer of critical components, materials to make these parts. However if missions are not completed - no part. Granted system itself should have some basic supply system in place to create a minimum of some parts. BUT perhaps the higher end stuff is player dependent. Need that level 3 jump drive - then better get that computer component mission done. (no idea what actually would be required)

Just a guess.

It would be far too finicky to base supply and demand of equipment on player interaction with mission systems and the commodity markets. I can't see that being very likely.

It's more likely that the procedural engine generates a chance modifier to a dice roll for each type of equipment at each location. That would explain the randomness coupled with the prevalence of parts in some systems like Styx. So when Styx was procedurally generated, it gained a high Thruster modifier and a low FSD modifier. That means each time you visit the station, there is a high chance of their being thrusters for sale, but a low chance of their being FSD's.

There are 3 good spots to go shopping in the core systems for Eagles/Vipers as far as I know.

1) Styx main station: lots of stuff here with a good variety of weapons and shields but often lacks FSD's and power cores for Eagles and Vipers. It stocks these for larger ships though.
2) Aulin Enterprise: tends to stock the stuff Styx doesn't, but FSD's and power cores are also not typically sold for the fighters.
3) Asellus Foster Research (outpost): carries thrusters, FSD's and power cores for eagles and vipers. Only reliable place to get class C+ for them I've found and they carry A type stuff off and on throughout the day.

Janifer Port in 10 Canum Venaticorum had this:

Pretty much the full range of everything, in all classes, except for the power coupling and fuel tank. Don't know if it's the time of day, the road less travelled, or what, but I'm happy.

(Should say I've gone for Class D on a couple of things for jump range. Higher marques available for those items too)

Still on the hunt for an A3 FSD (and I've been to every system mentioned in this thread at least twice), but I've got everything else (other than weapons) that I'm looking for.

Might start looping back toward the core systems, I'm pretty far out there now.

I just upgraded my Viper's Power Plant, FSD and Shield Generator at G180-18 earlier today and previously I had upgraded the Power Distributor and Thrusters at Styx.

Now I have a 10.45 ly range with four weapons equipped :)

It seems Industrial systems are the best bet for these sorts of things so far.

Have to say, after swapping from my Type 6 in beta 2 to a Viper in beta 3, and having read that trading is a now a little more viable again, I am kind of regretting trying out the Viper.

I think the first thing I'll do when I get home is trade it in and go back to the baby space cow. At least I didn't have to spend 6 hours aimlessly flying around to get an FSD that actually allowed me to travel to places without having to make 15 stops.

Gotta agree with you on that. Loved the Viper in Frontier: Elite II, but the range on it in ED is just painful.
