Systems "Discovered By"

Not a good idea. I don't think we need to see player names permanently tied to systems, let alone all the weird names some people have.
Perhaps inevitable with this large player base, but I feel like Elite is getting more and more about ego.
I've discovered systems but i wouldn't want to poke it in people's eyes all the time.

If you really need to add this then make it at least a small footnote somewhere, not popping up right below the system name.

Yeah, maybe there's a bit ego about it. TBF pirates/traders/fighters already have a way to 'imprint their actions onto the universe', while explorers simply get to cash in their cartographic details. It somewhat validates the time taken to explore when it comes to the evolving universe governed by (partly) player action.

I'm sure FD aren't going to plaster the discovers name all over the place - it'll be evident, but subtle. Mind you, if I ever discover one, I want my name written on the planet's surface in lurid purple neon with the phrase "Martin wuz 'ere!"

I am totally in support of this. Right now with exploration, there is little reward or credit for discoveries. What this will certainly help with is knowing what actually has been explored and what has simply been discovered, or at least I hope. Let the explorers make an impact on the galaxy!

What will this do? More people will want to explore, which will lead to more system development, which will lead to more trade routes and more cash flow and more wars.

But hey, some players don't think about that. I know for me at least, it will get me out and about a bit more too.

It'll probably be in the system stats in a very subtle place.

Maybe Frontier will add an option to hide the discoverer's name for all those that are horribly offended by it. I guess they must play in Solo?

I seem to remember there was once going to be an option to hide player's names/ship names from the HUD too.

This is proof that someone will eventually complain about literally anything.

I'm sorry you'll feel poked in the eye by seeing "Discovered by CMDR Rico Hollandicus" when you click on a non-descript mudball's description (for some reason) while out in the middle of nowhere.
