T-9 able to take a bit of damage?

Guys, I really don't want to play in solo anymore so i have this question:

Will something like this enable me to just keep flying and jumping away when interdicted by players before i get blown up? I'm one of those peeps that actually likes the t-9 and powerplay, and doesn't mind the small jumprange of the cow. I'm also asking because i'm not entirely sure anymore of the whole masslock-order....

I'll help!

If you steer clear of hugely inhabited area like Lave, Jeterait and Gliese 868, you should be absolutely fine, and if you wish to go to those places, put some armor on that cow. It can withstand attacks from Fighters up to Diamondback size pretty well, but it'll start to fail Vulture and up.

Armor is more important than shields, because pirates won't be targeting your power plant, but if someone wants you dead and you're in a Type 9, oh boy, good luck.*

*If they're flying Python and up.

Not got experience of flying it myself but a T9 without a wing is basically a neon sign saying attack me.

I'd advise swapping to a trading Anaconda, possibly putting some faux class 1 weapons and a E grade kill warrant scanner, make yourself look like a bounty hunter.

Obviously a cost standpoint can drop the fuel scoop to a B or C grade and maybe even the shield to a D grade. But to the enemy scanners you look like a heavily armed bounty hunter not a 400T trader :)

I would play cautiously instead of trusting the mass lock. Use emergency drop and/or jumping to next system to defend yourself.

I've been flying in Open and can't really see many players around, unless it's a CG or a station with rares. Few here and there, most of them polite and can be chatted with. If not, run - with the above techniques.
You can check system traffic in galnet once you've docked, and avoid highly frequented systems. You can keep an eye on your scanner. And you should always have enough creds for 2 insurance payouts.

If you do this you'll be fine. At least I have been.

Oh, then he'll never get any attention :(

I certainly wouldn't poke that with a 20 Ls long stick!

If you are part of my faction, I will fly wing for you. I will fight anything in my A-spec'd clipper long enough for you to escape.

That's my current load out for my T9. I am able to fend off most low to medium strength pirates (PVP) at least until my FSD has fully charged. I like to activate my hardpoints and give the pirate something to think about at least until my FSD has fully charged and if i'm feeling lucky I turn FA off and turn around and give him a couple of torpedoes instead of my cargo. This set up though will only buy you time, I wouldn't expect to kill any player with this, but it should at least fend them off and buy you time to get to the station, which shouldn't take you long if you choose your station carefully. Also some fancy flying skills in supercruise is necessary :) But having said that, you're flying a T9, you can afford to give some cargo away.

You really shouldn't sacrifice so much cargo space for your SCBs. You need to do your loadout while thinking 'I need to be able to escape one pirate', because you can always reequip when you get back to the station and if you have more than one pirate interdict you on your way then you should just yield or find a new system anyway.

Honestly.. I'm seeing a lot of Anaconda's and Type 9's on my trade route with no shielding in open play. They don't seem to have much trouble and neither do I in my type 7. You'd only really have to care if you were in Anarchy systems or high traffic system.

Hi,

I got interdicted in my Type 9 by players during the Wolf 490 CG. I had been flying Solo, but thought I would 'spice things up a bit' by going into Open mode. I knew there were a LOT of pirates about. Anyway, fairly quickly I got interdicted and submitted. Tried to boost away - not a smart move. In literally seconds my shields were gone and my thrusters were shot out. I knew I would shortly be looking at the insurance screen, so I said 'hey I submit' over the comms and the firing stopped. I was then instructed to dump my 500 tonnes of Uranium as 'abandoned'. After that the pirates were soon gone, I hit the reboot / repair and limped into dock. It was actually a lot of fun - although I did end up about 3 million Cr out of pocket. Those were proper pirates though - they stopped firing when I surrendered. :)

Which is why you always have to decide whether you are going to submit to the pirate, even in a tradeaconda. You will never be able to escape all pirates if u fly a trading ship

Can someone explain to me why the Python has a higher Mass Lock than a T9? Not the only thing that caught my eyes but by far the most rediculous one.
