T.Flight Hotas 4 and Dualshock in Ace Combat 7

Just bought Ace Combat 7 on sale in the PS Store. And I'm annoyed.

There are barely a handful of games that support the T.Flight Hotas 4. I think it would be fair to say that this Thrustmaster product mainly exists for the benefit of Elite Dangerous players.

However, I have given up using it in Elite because it isn't possible to use both the Dualshock and the Hotas at the same time. You are forced to switch the Dualshock controller off before starting Elite in order to use the Hotas. It's either one controller or the other. This means that navigating menus, the galaxy map, the FSS, and driving the SRV can only be done with the joystick on the Hotas, which is an absolutely awful immersion breaking experience. Either that or shut down the game completely and reactivate the Dualshock. After a while, who can be bothered to do that? So I just play with the Dualshock all the time now.

I was under the impression that this was due to a limitation of the hardware. But now that I have Ace Combat 7, I see that you can quite happily have both controllers working simultaneously with absolutely no problems whatsoever... Navigating menus with the Dualshock and flying with the Hotas, just as it should be.

Simply put, this is just shoddy laziness and lack of respect on behalf of Frontier for its PS4 players, and for Thrustmaster for that matter... the company who have created a peripheral for use almost exclusively with this game.

I understand that we console players only get the crumbs that drop from the PC table when it comes to Elite, but seriously this is a big slap in the face.

I expect this issue to be addressed before any paid updates. Thanks.

Its a limit of the cobra engine custom key map mapping don't hold your breath for any changes...
Unreal engine does not have this limit, you can even have Keyboard, Mouse, flight stick and a DS4 all connected at the same time on console...

Even WAR THUNDER does just this allready and thats a FTP title...micro transaction title...
Edit = And no the Tflight was built for war thunder. ED did not even have a PS4 port when war thunder released with flight stick support built in even before there was a T.flight PS4 model...
Hence the box cover was this..

That doesn't sound right since Cobra is cross-platform and PC users have multiple input streams - Keyboard, mouse, Hotas, gamepad etc

I thought it must be a hardware limitation... because otherwise this woul be a no-brainer. Apparently not.

The cobra engine is not a single build for all platforms... PS4 does not have USB key mapping or USB mouse or VR support.. The limit on the console build Was added in the port and completely stripped the engine and functions when it moved to Xbox, it was even more broken when moved to PS4...
The Xbox build has the same limitation The only controlls supported on Xbox are the device you boot the game with and press X with on the start screen...
The cobra engine features set were stripped on move to Xbox one...

You can have a dual-shock and keyboard at once in Elite, although the keyboard is only for chat and not command functions.

Another game which requires you to turn off the dualshock before using the Hotas4 is Ultrawings (iirc been a while since I tried). But then that is a PSVR game, so more understandable, as you wouldn't want the light bar / gyros messing with the HOTAS inputs.
Also highly unlikely to be the Cobra engine.
