Just bought Ace Combat 7 on sale in the PS Store. And I'm annoyed.
There are barely a handful of games that support the T.Flight Hotas 4. I think it would be fair to say that this Thrustmaster product mainly exists for the benefit of Elite Dangerous players.
However, I have given up using it in Elite because it isn't possible to use both the Dualshock and the Hotas at the same time. You are forced to switch the Dualshock controller off before starting Elite in order to use the Hotas. It's either one controller or the other. This means that navigating menus, the galaxy map, the FSS, and driving the SRV can only be done with the joystick on the Hotas, which is an absolutely awful immersion breaking experience. Either that or shut down the game completely and reactivate the Dualshock. After a while, who can be bothered to do that? So I just play with the Dualshock all the time now.
I was under the impression that this was due to a limitation of the hardware. But now that I have Ace Combat 7, I see that you can quite happily have both controllers working simultaneously with absolutely no problems whatsoever... Navigating menus with the Dualshock and flying with the Hotas, just as it should be.
Simply put, this is just shoddy laziness and lack of respect on behalf of Frontier for its PS4 players, and for Thrustmaster for that matter... the company who have created a peripheral for use almost exclusively with this game.
I understand that we console players only get the crumbs that drop from the PC table when it comes to Elite, but seriously this is a big slap in the face.
I expect this issue to be addressed before any paid updates. Thanks.
