T Flight Hotas binding issues Xbox

I’m coming from a PC version of Elite and trying to map/bind my Tflight HOTAS with the Xbox. It is the XBOX/PC T Flight version. The switch is in the correct position for Xbox.

Biggest issue is trying to map the side panels for navigation, docking, changing fire groups, etc. I’ve used button 9 and the hat directional switch to switch between side panels on PC version. There seems to be no UI focus options or settings to choose them one at a time. Am I missing a setting?

As a side question. Can I use the Xbox controller and Hotas together during gameplay for the Xbox version of the game?

Consoles Use Combo of buttons for nearly every thing... you press a FACE button and then another button or direction...
These are A B X Y then combine with D pad up down left and right or the LB RB LT and RT... R3 and L3 Xbox dont use numbers For the buttons names...

The left panel/NAV panel/internal panel... By default Was press and hold X + left D pad
The right panel/Ship panel/External panel By default was Press and hold X + right D pad
Focus is not used correct, you go Direct with button combo... And the Default for the hotas just mirrors the controller defaults for every thing...
The first time you connect the Hotas and boot the game with the hotas and Press A the USB Hotas config loads in at boot and only at that boot...

These settings are in "Mode switches" Fdev Changed the NAME of the Panels as EDO added a crap ton of junk to the "external panel"
To Change "tab" in each Panel you need to assign Next and Prevous tab buttons... That is in Interface mode directly under "mode switches" this is a global item. If any item has a tab these will be controlled by these settings. this includes galaxy map, Powerplay screen, and Outfitting..

You can not use a controller and USB hotas at the same time the cobra engine is junk and only allows a single button mapping active at a time...
This is Specifically the console cobra engine build for ED... (no the engine has Specific issue per platform with its limitations Like no Keyboard assignments and no mouse use on Xbox for galaxy map.)
Hotas use on Elite dangerous on Xbox was very very late... as the hotas did not release for ED it released Due to the delayed Ace combat 7 not ED...
The galaxy map is stupidly bad on hotas...

Have fun...

interesting. i find the Galaxy Map very easy and intuitive using the Thrustmaster HOTAS.

Edit: with the exception of trying to type in System names. that is incredibly tedious and i just started using the Xbox app on my phone instead.

Note also that the combinations are order-sensitive. For example, A + LB is a separate binding from LB + A, so a function bound to one order will NOT proc if you press the buttons in the other order. The HOTAS may do likewise, I cannot remember if it does or doesn't because for locational reasons mine is now just gathering dust.

Additionally, you can have more than two controls mapped to a given function, on a controller at least. On my Elite Controller I have a couple of triple buttons mapped, eg LB + RB + Y toggles my orbit lines.

As a point of interest, there was a brief time, in the 2.4 era, when both the HOTAS and a controller were mappable at the same time and usable simultaneously. The only problem with it was that, though the code and functionality recognised them as distinct from each other, the same two same-labelled buttons from each device (eg the A) had identical icons in the binding screen. Imagine seeing in your in-game bindings list that you have mapped some function to "A + A", but cannot remember if the HOTAS one was first or the controller one! So, it was advisable to have a separate non-game record of your bindings for reference, or else you were constantly trying it in the field until you got your head straight about which was which. Despite that, we liked this multi-device capability, but unfortunately it was taken away by 3.0 for some reason that I don't recall was ever given to us (maybe I missed it?). We have asked for it back ever since, or better yet for keyboard to be used at the same time as the HOTAS now that MS allows KB for XBox gaming, but I guess we're never getting either now.

Well, anyway, armed with the above, experiment with your HOTAS bindings! One can pack a heck of a lot onto a controller, and since a HOTAS has more buttons you could pack even more without having to play a game of Twister with your fingers. As Graphite said, have fuuh-uuun :)

I'm still struggling to get a binding for the Full Spectrum Scanner
Hotas just doesn't seen to register any combo I try

My advice is…clear any bindings you have. use the default and then and only then customize if you never use a gamepad alternatively. You can only have one custom configuration and that may mess with something if you did not clear and start from a default and instead just started setting more custom binds.

The Fss is independant from ship flight controls... (my choices)
As soon as you enter it nothing mapped in the ship carries over
The defaults can be reset but the FSS has very little thats actualy needed...
The Frequency dial goes left and right still.. (Dpad/hat stick)
The Targeting still goes left right up and down.. (Flight stick)
The Zooms still a ... It still wont zoom in full speed if the frequency dial is wrong for the Item (smegs some times, buttons on rear of throttle for zoom in or out.)...
Pulse generator on Y *button" under palm if needed...
