T. Flight HOTAS X or Extreme 3D Pro?

Right now I'm playing Elite with my old Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and it's on its last legs. In fact I can no play at all on my MacBook because without a decent way to calibrate it, my Python is about as controllable as a shopping trolley.

Unfortunately I don't have the funds to grab myself an X55 or even an X52. So right now I'm debating whether to get another Extreme 3D Pro, or pay a little bit extra and go for the T. Flight HOTAS X.

Any thoughts on which one I should get? Or is there something even better for around the same price?

Bill.

Do a search and you'll find many threads.

I can only vouch for the hotas x. Cheap. Does everything fine. Ultra reliable for me. A bit plasticky.

Some fan of some other stick will pop along to say that this is erroneous. Meh.

I did that exact move - from the Extreme 3D pro to the T.Flight. The only thing that I missed on first changing was the secondary fire button on the T.Flight is on top of the stick, rather than where the thumb naturally sits. It didn't take long to adjust.
It's a great cheap HOTAS though and has made a huge different in the game for me.

For that kind of money you will struggle to find better value than the T.Flight HOTAS X.

personally I run a 3d pro extreme and left hand has a razor orbweaver and a Zboard fang - picture orbweaver mounted flat on console and fang vertical in front of it. Looking side on in the shape of an L. Price wise this probably more expensive in the long run but I started with a plain keyboard and the joystick, then got the fang then added the orbweaver. all up over 50 macro/mappable keys and the joystick, I do however now have a simpit setup for all this but m point is the left hand can be added if you are on a budget and it can be quite effective

Just got the HOTAS X and its great for the price. I've got 3 buttons on the throttle set as 'shift' buttons so although there aren't that many buttons overall, using shift keys it can do everything you need.

It is a little plastiky though, but certainly doesn't feel flimsy.

For the price you can't do better than the T-Flight HOTAS-X.

It's a great controller as said. I've had mine now for 9 months and not a blip with it. Yes it's cheap but compared to the horror stories you hear about Saitek sticks this has been great for me.

Another advocate of the 3 shift buttons on the throttle. I have about 30 functions mapped :) I only use the keyboard for typing a message once in game.

I graduated from the extreme 3d pro and got the Hotas x and haven't looked back. The throttle is miles better and just feels more real.

I agree with some of the plasticy comments, but I love the fact you can either keep the throttle attached or detach it. Also I use the three buttons on the throttle as shift buttons and it works great.

The Extreme 3d pro was developing some drift, which pushed me to look at the Thrust master. For you dollar you will be hard pressed to find a better value.

There are better sticks, but they are much more expensive. IMHO Hotas X wins best bang for your buck and is a fantastic sub $100.00 controller.

That' what I've got now, to the point where I have to keep doing 180-degree rolls to get out of a space station. (Fortunately the docking computer takes care of the landings.)

Thanks for your input, everyone. Really appreciate it.

Anyone interested in an Extreme 3D Pro shopping trolley?

i have the non hotas t-flight X , ive also had 2 3d pros, , and all i can say is apart from the bit of plastic creaking in the t-flight (still feels strong) its better in every way then my 3d's were, specialy as it has had failing sensors ( did i mention technicaly it was 4 3d's due to failing sensors and warranty...). had the Tm for over 12 months now and its still like new, can say much bad about it,maybe the trigger could have been a little longer, maybe they could have put 2-3 move screws in it to stop the creaking, but thats about it.

For those with the rolling 3d's, there several vid on changing out the sensors to better ones... if you can be bothered... or you can just go buy a better stick :p

I intended my T-Flight Hotas X as an introduction to the whole HOTAS thing, see if I could cope before upgrading.

Honestly now it's so good I see no need. I've got everything I need mapped to the throttle and stick and the slightly less urgent stuff is only a short hop away on my keyboard.

Seriously for <£40 this kit is way beyond good value for money.

Also I've been using it hard for 5 months with no sign of wear.

I upgraded too from a 3D Extreme to a T Hotas. Love it, but the stick felt more accurate on the logitech, and the cable joining the throttle to the stick are too short for my setup.

Solved it by using the T Hotas throttle and the logitech stick. Now I'm in heaven...

Yes, that would be my only gripe. It's a shame the connecting cable is hard wired to each part rather than using a plug, which you might be able to get an extension for.

T-Flight HOTAS x for me. Great value, pretty solid and I for the cash I really can't fault it. I've used mine since Alpha with no issues at all.

Thrustmaster Hotas X is a solid joystick. I've since upgraded, but I'll never sell the thing, it's too reliable. Plus Tie Fighter wont work with my new joystick :D
