T-Rex needing sand?

Hello, so with the T-Rex needing sand and NOT NEEDING FOREST im assuming this is wrong? Not one of the movies they needed more sand than trees?

The Rex needing sand is really weird. Would an animal like the Rex really need sand? I doubt it considering where it lived. I don't think sand was a major requirement to a Rex in reality. Maybe Frontier knows something I don't. But it's just an oddly specific requirement. Forest makes sense though. The sand is just odd.

I also am not sure what the T. rex needing sand is in reference to. A lot of the dinosaur needs are arbitrary and don't seem to be based on actual paleontology or reference to the movies.

if you play on a desert map no dino need forest cause there is no brush for it.
On te other maps the rex should also need forest. at least in tropical enviroment i'm 100% sure they need much forest

It did seem like an odd choice considering how dense the jungle beyond the fence in the original film was and how T-Rex kingdom seemed like the middle of the deep woods in JW. But they actually don't need that much sand relative to the space they already need. Just paint their watering hole sand and give it a bit more beach than you might usually and they're happy.

They'll need a bit more sand, but not an entire enclosure's worth. They also do need some trees depending on the map, so if you're playing in a Tropical environment they'll need some forest, for example.

So, the buck and female Rex you get in the TLW Chaos Theory scenario died while I was playing, and I didn't get the Rex Unlocked. I made to Carnos and stuck them in the last pen. One of their needs was sand. It's in the middle of the desert. Why do they want more sand? lol

The same thing for the Rex. It's a desert map and they want more sand.

It's probably based on the U.S. supposedly having an inland sea at that time. So maybe the Rex needs sand because of that.

The same could be said for most known dinosaurs. Generally the fossils are found in the lowland floodplains closer to the coast. Because that's where the fossils are more easily preserved.
If T. rex needs sand, then so would Edmontosaurus, Triceratops and the other animals it shared its environment with.

The logic is more inherited from Zoos I think, certain animals need harder or softer ground to walk on (hence rock and sand as the terrain brushes that matter).
