T1600M FCS issue in TARGET

Hi all i am battling to get my Thrustmaster T16000M FCS to show in controller section on ED it just shows Generic although the virtual controller shows active in TARGET, any ideas gentlemen?

Not at all a constructive answer, well at least not one I was anticipating

Well, if you don't like it, sorry. If I had known you were going to be so rude I would not have bothered trying to help.

The fact is the TARGET software can interfere with the game's recognition of the controller. If you run the T16000 without having TARGET running you might find that the game actually recognises it. After all, the game has default bindings built-in for it:

I have been using a 160000m with ED since 2016 and can second the recommendation to not use the target software. As stated, the game was designed to be compatible with this hotas, not sure if this was exclusive or not. It’s certainly not the best controller but it’s good for the cost and works very well with the game. For this reason many players use this hotas. Many have asked the exact question about target software and received the same answer. Occasionally some folks ask questions around here and don’t recognize good answers when they receive them. These folks are hard to help. Don’t be one of them.

This is arguably incorrect. TARGET in no way interferes with the client's controller detection, which is the most flexible I've seen in any game. It can, however, fall foul of power management settings in recent versions of Windows.

There are good reasons to prefer TARGET to the standard USB interface. The most important is the response curves one can set with the software, which are very useful when fine control near the centre of the axis is necessary, say for using rail guns to attack modules or for control with flight assist off.

To answer @BravoPappa's question, TARGET combines the stick and throttle into a single virtual device. This virutal device - Thrustmaster Virtual game Controller (root) - is not recognised by the game client as a T16000.M FCS; it will be reported as a generic device. That doesn't mean it won't work.

If you are having problems with the device not working/stopping working after a few minutes, this is likely due to Windows power management settings. You should also have the TARGET script running before you launch the game.

If you are having trouble with the naming convention, you can change that too.

If you just want the HOTAS to be recognised by the game client, don't use TARGET; it's extremely useful, but it does require extra steps to work - you'll need to turn off power management for the USB device and map custom controls.

Hi all thank you for the great info, yes I sat for hours trying to get TARGET to work with my T16000m and Throttle and found that i was doing something wrong, I un-installed and reinstalled and what I did was not unplug the Thrustmaster controllers whilst installing the driver, i found that i had to plug in when the installer stated so,I contacted support and they advised me exactly what to do.
I have my Hotas working fine now. Thank you everybody for the advice, once again.
