T9 avoid trouble

Lost 30 mill in T9 rebuys, was doing some cg trips to eurybia and went on side missions to kill skimmers as I have plenty of srvs. but then npc interdicted me many times on way back for my cargo. T9 doesn't last long even with 5a bi weave shields, and too slow to run and turns too slow to fight. After losing out many times, I remembered ihad fighters, which was working better but my crew member couldn't hold the ship together. Back to diamondback x for me...

Did you not have enough fuel to jump to a different system or something?

First rule of flying a big trading ship is to ALWAYS pre-select a different system to jump to after you arrive at your destination system.
If anything attacks you (human or NPC) you can just hit left-HUD, target & engage FSD and be gone in 10 seconds.
Dock at the nearest suitable station, repair and then have another go at completing your mission.

Could have been worse. Could have been in this situation and unable to High Wake!

That said, launching your SLF will generally keep them busy long enough to wake out. Mines used to help too. Not sure if they still do.

Yeah I tried to stay in system to avoid long trips, mines dont seem to hold anybody up at all. Maybe putting crew in fighter is better option to give some distraction time as you mention.

Class 5 Bi-Weaves on a T9 won't last very long, that's almost like flying without Shields. The T9's large footprint and hitbox will amplify that problem further.

Try 5A, 6A or better 7A Shields and if Engineer access is available, work on Shields and Shield Boosters to optimize the Shield Resistances.

Being a slow "Space Cow", the T9 is one of the Ships where it's better to sacrifice a bit Cargo space, rather than facing a Rebuy screen. Those are typically more expensive than the small profit loss from the reduced Cargo ;)

Sounds like you have the platform created for a niche career but you're trying to hybrid it to do other things. Use a python for that. You'd be surprised how much you can trade in a python in a Cr/min basis vs the T9.

For me, the shields on a T9 are only there to let you know something is starting to go wrong and give you chance to react.

Mine's got a 6A shield (with a couple of HD boosters) and that's just enough to give you a bit of a head-start on the bad-guys.
It's really the hull which provides most of your defence and allows you to make a successful getaway.
The trick is just not to get any big ideas about staying and fighting if you have more important things to do.

The highlight of my T9 career was destroying a CMDR in an iClipper who probably wasn't expecting me to just spam heat-seeking missiles as soon as he interdicted me but I only attempted that because I was on my way back from an engineer and I wasn't that bothered about the re-buy.
If I'd have had a cargo hold full of ore, or a heap of missions to complete, I'd have high-waked without a second thought.

My secret love affair with a T9...thats my current vice, I love the thing. Flies like a brick...steers like one too...but that cockpit. Thats what sold it fer me. Admitedly, my motives are somewhat different in that Im taking mine to sag A...sheilds fer me need to handle little more than bumpy landings and the class 8 slot is occupied with an 8B fuel scoop.

Btw, did ye know it costs 92m to transfer that fuel scoop to colonia? I hate this game sometimes I really do...

Not really on topic I know...just the ramblings of someone who loves the T9 ^
