t9 heavy love needed

i really like the t9 im building it as a mining ship but it really really needs some love more module space for one.

in order to build and take what you need i have to get rid of the discovery scanner

it handles worse than a dead pig in mud now i dont expect it to handle like a fighter but geez at least some turn speed dodging rocks is not fun when it take s 30 mins to turn

its a great looking ship and i would love to use it more but even with engineering it still needs some love from the devs so please buff the t9 a bit

i mean as soon as pirates atk you your dead mines are useless and the more armor and that you add the worse it gets the jump range is horrific

not asking for it to be over buffed just made usable [up]
 
Don't fool around with mines or chaff. Just equip 2x shieldbooster and 2x pointdefense. Use turrets instead of mines.

My Pleiades Type-9 (former trade ship) has 1x medium burst turret, 1x medium multicannon turret and 1x medium beam turret on the bottom. Than 1x small gimbaled MC and 1x small railgun.
Okay this one is now fully engineered but don't forget that the Trade ships got their hull doubled! I can run with this Type-9 into HazRes without any problems and even a Player with his PvP-Anaconda was surprised and afraid that i was able to sustain his attack and drop his shields. At the end i was highwaking because PvP isn't his task but against NPC's there is nothing that could crack this Tradenought :D

I'm just saying, that the Type-9 is in a very good place. It takes some time to get used to it but than he is superior. Once you have access to a Cutter, the Type-9 will no longer serve your demands but it's the same with many other ships as well like the Type-6.
Yet i have found a new task for him and i'm still satisfied with that Space Cow
 
The T9 got an armour buff recently. I doubt it will get another. It can also use a fighter, which can be pretty effective.

If you are mining, stay away from RES. Just drop into a random part of a ring. Let any pirates scan you before you start mining, they should go away if you have no cargo.

If you have a dodgy internet connection, don't mine in a T9. If you ever get an disconnect while you are in a ring, it can be a death sentence, as the pirates that will inevitably spawn again will attack you for your cargo. Though you could try giving them your less valuable ores.
 
I had a T-9 for about six months. I finally got rid of it. It has been "balanced" into uselessness. Using the T-9 for bulk cargo hauling always felt like I was trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole, it just isn't a good fit.

To be what it is billed as, a top cargo hauler, it really needs another size 8, or cargo rack only size 9, slot.

Someone from FD did say they would look at the T9's cargo. This was when the T7 got a buff. I wonder if they have forgotten.

I would more like that they release the Panther Clipper. If FDev's really intend to make the cargo ships the best bulk traders, than the Type-6 would need a buff of around 170% additional cargocapacity to beat the Python on the medium Pad :D

Without special grinds/exploits and just working for the empire, it has taken me 1 1/2 years to get the rank for the Cutter and in this time, the Type-9 was doing his job very great. I still think he is at a good place :)
 
T9 needs a class 8 cargo rack that cant be swapped out in addition to its other 8 slot. i'd be kinda satisfied if they did that.
 
The size and shape of the Type-6 and Type-7 look like they were designed to be the maximum capacity ships for small and medium pads. It would be a very unpopular ship design company that designed ships that were just a tiny fraction too big for their ideal role. I hope that the Panther is designed to only just fit into a large pad.
 
They just need to look at cargo capacity for the Type 9 and possibly increase the FSD class to accomodate any increase. Handling and speed wise it is fine where it is. It is a giant freighter and it should handle as such. As for dealing with attacks, fit a class 6a shield, shield boosters and military grade armour. Submit to interdictions and then high wake out of trouble. Your only realistic option if running cargo is submit then jump to another system.
 
Back to the Type 6 & 7, here is how ridiculously small one looks on a medium pad:

The point I am trying to make here is how poorly the type 6, 7 and 9 have been thought out.
 
Have you tried engineering the thrusters on it? Admittedly it's a bit sluggish, but once a couple of engineers have gone through it, it really does become a lot smoother to handle. Agreed though, it could do with a bit more cargo space. This is supposed to be the heavy duty hauler of the galaxy, but an Anaconda can easily match or even exceed the T-9's capacity, and still have enough modules to be a decent ship.
 
Sandro did say they'd take a look at it. Hopefully for 2.4... an extra size 8 slot would be nice and a small increase in base shield strength perhaps. Actually looking at the numbers compared to a cutter, I suggest doubling base shield lol. Against engineered weapons it is really not in a good place compared to other large ships.

I hardly ever use mine now I have the cutter :( poor space cow.

Might consider trying to make a CG blockade runner out of it as doing it in the cutter is no challenge at all.

However I did like someone's suggestion of adding a dedicated 8 slot for cargo.

This would give the t9 more cargo to haul and or option of beefy shield.

I'd also like a +8ly range to help mitigate the extra cargo and or just to make it worth. Right now you could almost do that same amount of cargo with a t6 or t7 because the t6 can get there and back faster to pick up another haul.

Most buff requests are for the cargo to be increased. I have a size 8 shield on the T9 which is engineered along with engineered shield boosters and military armour, it keeps me out of bother when high waking from ships that have mass locked me. As for the jump range, perhaps increasing the size slot of the FSD would compensate for the extra tonnage.
