Tactical Core Chips

as a relative newcomer to the Thargoid conflict (April of this year) I've been trying my best to play catch-up with this exciting aspect of the game. Having said that, I very recently understood that it would be useful to have some of Ram Tah's engineering for my guardian stuff - and here's where the rant comes in: it seems ridiculously difficult to collect Tactical Core Chips at this time. I get the whole Banshee/Revenant/Spire Site/etc, but having interceptors pop in, in an already difficult endeavour is frustrating and, in my opinion, stupid. Maybe someone knows a better way, maybe FD has something in mind, but at this point the whole thing seems counter productive and has seriously turned me off. Rant over. Comments on what I might be doing wrong would be appreciated.

I agree Tactical Core Chips are super hard to get, And Spire sites alone are a super challenging event. All Thargoid content was end game until very recently, so Fdev have not thought out all of it yet. I hear the engineering rework should drop next week with the T8 early access and the Python MK2 being available for all Ody owners for credits, so maybe/hopefully Tharg mats are addressed in that change

Difficulty is depends of your AX ship build. Get this mats is easy, but you need be prepaired.
1. You need ship with big hull
2. You need 2 AX missile launchers
3. You need AXMC (clean scouts)
4. You need Collection limpet controller.
5. Optional install Caustic Sink Launcher

Now you're prepared.
1. Go snd drop to any active spire site (better in solo)
2. Using AX missile kill all Banshee (bugs witch fires missiles to you)
3. Using AXMC kills all scouts
4. Don't shoot to Orphus (let them work)
5. Get a 800 meters altitude and seek a Revenant's light traces and shoot AX missile to kill them
6. Fire a collect limpet and it bring mats from Revenant's corpse.

Periodically you'll see one scout, which will land to sutface snd deploy new banch of Revenants.

I got 24 Core Tactical Chips within 1,5 hours.

What's the point of killing scouts? They'll come back.

And I also took repair droids, as the hull begins to shrink, fly away, repair the hull and fly back.

I had six Sirius missile launchers because there's a lot of missiles.

Unless someone completes a sabotage mission the only interceptors are Orthrus which can be ignored.
Barnacles seem to have 4 revenants and a banshee patrolling with another 2 revenants buried in the barnacle.
If you knock them out with missiles or on foot you'll need to be fairly quick getting the SRV out as the mats decay quite rapidly.

Alternatively there's a settlement in Mapon, 'Pelissier's Command' IIRC which spawns revenants without a banshee.
Otherwise any military settlement in a control system will have them along with a banshee.

Take a Thargoid Pulse Neutraliser when farming at a Spire, it counteracts the Banshees' (very annoying) system reboot missiles. A Titan bomber can be quickly repurposed as a Revenant/Banshee bomber with a couple of tweaks - e.g. swap the repair limpets for collectors, and the nano torps for an Azimuth MC or something for Scouts.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I was (still am) using a Krait II for this, with a Thargoid Pulse Neutralizer, Collector and Repair limpets, etc, much like the comments and Youtube says. I'm doing a few things better and now I've manged to collect some TCCs. A few points:

1. switched from Enhanced AX missile launcers to Sirius AX Missile Lanchers - more ammo and that (I find) makes a difference
2. likewise, swapped from Enhanced multi cannons to Azimuth Enhanced AX multi cannons
3. I'm at the Spire site (2nd planet) at Pegasi Sector NN-S b4-3; as I said in my first post, interceptors pop in within a minute of me appearing - but here's the kicker: there are up to 3 cyclops at any one time, and they ignore me. Why? I don't know. So I can fire at Banshees and Revenants, scouts pop up and I have to deal with them, but interceptors don't engage. Interesting.

I've heard about Mapon but staying where I am until I crack this site. Having said all that, I've manged to collect 12 TTCs (i.e. 4 x 3 per collect) and I need 7 for my Chieftain AX build, so guess I'm okay for now. It will be interesting and less frustrating when the big change comes later this month with engineering mats and perhaps the number jumps from 3 per collect to something much higher.

Again, thanks for the comments - very appreciated.

I should add, I presume that the interceptors are Cyclops - maybe they are Orthrus - I don't know the difference (yet)

This is why the game should not be dumbed down and why all those who post over and over to make it easier should be drowned out.
Over the past few days i have been to the spire near RAIJIN to have a bash at these little pain in the backsides myself.
Ive built a new cutter, re-built and rebuilt it again, three visits to the spire unloading all my ammo into the ground with Sirius missile racks blazing, limpet collectors exploding everywhere, nose diving into the ground frequently, fighting scouts and ground stuff only to return to the carrier with naff all.

Pull back - Repair, reboot modules, use up all the afmu ammo, re-Synth afmu ammo, repair etc etc

BUT when i finally got some of those chips it was an amazing feeling.

Some things just should be hard, it makes it all worthwhile.

That's weird.
Did they make it harder than it needs to be? Or are you not doing it in single mode?
Collecting chips as you described was the easiest of these 3 materials needed to neutralize the field.

I think youre a bit behind the times mate, the Chips are for guardian resistance on modules.

additional question, because that challenge i havn´t managed myself. what´s the best way to kill those banshess with ax missiles ?, i have shot lots of them on banshes without success. from time to time i can kill one but there are a lot at the spire sites, and cant concentate on the revenants because beeing busy to avoid all this shutdown missiles.
any tipps for getting through this are appreciated, thx

I think the trick is to aim at the ground underneath them and they take splash damage - their undersides are much more vulnerable. If they rise towards you, back off a bit and they should return to the ground.

^^^ This
Im using 2x 3C Sirius AX missile racks and as Untilting says just aim underneath them at the lights on the ground, takes a few hits.
I try to take out a few Revs then deal with the Scouts before attempting to collect stuff with limpets, i use an ECM to try and stop the missiles but getting shut down and nose diving into the ground is an occupational hazard doing this :ROFLMAO:

Its not easy but ive had a lot of fun learning to hide, dodge and shoot stuff in the cutter.

thanks fot the tipps so far, i have tried it with a cutter, but prefer medium ships especially on the spire sites for better manouverbility. probably one mistake is my attemp eliminate all the banshees before trying to attack revenants,. whats better the ECM or the Thargoid puls neutralizer ?, whats the best collector limpet controller ?, i think the class 7 multi limpet controlles is too limited in its collecting range ?
thx again,

I’ve had my fun at a Raijin spire getting some of the chips for my alt with a Scorpion. Fighting the Banshees in that (solo) is also an… interesting experience. One where I have occasionally had to lose three of them on me at the same time.

Damn things are tough. Also not easy to target its more vulnerable points in that vehicle.
