Tactical Ship Scanner (TSS)

Exploration got a nifty overhaul with the introduction of the FSS, this meant we no longer had to stare awkwardly at each planet to perform a scan.
Basically, a brilliant idea. Some will disagree, but I love it.

However, scanning ships still follows the ancient tradition of pointing your ship at theirs, then staring awkwardly until we know things.

What if, FD applied a similar mechanic to scanning ships, as scanning planets?
With the Tactical Ship Scanner, or TSS.

It works slightly differently to the FSS, in the way that it basically uses the multicrew turret interface, in normal space, but *ideally*, made to look like a sensor screen, so ships and objects can be shown in their glorious orange (and green/red/blue/white) holograms, to match the main radar.
Your ship, sits on the centre, at a point of reference, but is transparent.
You can then shift your view around your ship, like in multicrew turret mode, and target lock and scan any ship in range, including using additional scanners, such as KWS, etc.
It is important that *only* turrets will fire in this mode, and could potentially be manually aimed, liked in multicrew.

This would work more or less the same in both normal space, and supercruise.

For the sake of gameplay and simplicity, NPC's still have to stare awkwardly at you to scan your ship, otherwise avoiding scans might become too difficult.

Thoughts?
